Yes obviously signing a Voronin is not what I meant, but we don't need to go and sign another Suarez, we just need some decent players to give us depth at the very least. We're incredibly thin. We signed Coutinho and Sturridge last Jan and Suarez the Jan before, the scouts should have been working non stop during the first half of the season, we should at least have some well thought out targets to go for at the least.

when was the last time a signing came completely out of the blue? Assaidi was the last I can think of and the reasons why are obvious. Journos are always sniffing around and get tipped off, I find it hard to believe we are close to signing/in negotiations after what JP has just said.
Totally agree Dave. I'd like one or two in but with the likes of Sturridge, Sakho, Enricky and Flannel due back we really aren't too badly off. Jan can be a nightmare month to buy big and if we don't get one in soon I won't mind too much as (as you say) once one player moves then the merry-go-round begins, it's only then that the bargains become easier to spot and get for a reasonable price. Salah is a talent no doubt but a raw one. From what I've seen (which isn't a massive amount) he's very skillful and great control but damn ball greedy at times and a total showboater. He's one of those players I'll be happy to see come in at a reasonable price but I won't give a **** about if he decides to go for the russkie payday instead. I just dont agree with the no new signings = no top 4 I'm afraid SR. Bad signings could scupper the position we have put ourselves in and of course a couple of decent additions will help, no one will argue with that but lets not twat about just signing players for the sake of it. Of course our scouts will have been identifying targets but if they want to play elsewhere or their respective clubs are trying to blag us then we move onto the next player.

Coutinho hardly got a mention until a couple of days before we signed him. Sakho was being linked with everyone but not particullarly us before he came. It is ony 9th of Jan mate and it's not like we haven't been heavily linked with half of Europe already is it.
