http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/hull-transfer-news-shane-long-3002048 Well that's what they say! If true, good news, got our main business done early.
Ffs can someone finally explain this? People say it every time the mirror have any news on us, I question it every time and I still don't know what it's based on. For years people have said The Mirror must have someone ITK at City, longer than anyone high up has been there in fact, but I'm still yet to be aware of one example. I'm not saying it's not the case I'd just love to know what it is they've got right.
Anyway yeah it'd be great if true of course. Funny that the away crowd were taunting him at their place the other week and he seemed to get a bit wound up by it. I thought at the time he could feasibly be a City player before long (pun honestly not intended).
To be fair, other than the medical and sorting out the fee with WBA there shouldn't be any negotiations to be done here. With Long and his agent it should just be a case of "same terms as we agreed in August?", "yeah that's great, cheers"
No one was taunting him? Unless you mean the "You should have signed for a big club" chant? Not sure how that was a taunt though.
To be honest, I don't think his goalscoring and assist record justifies a £5m+ fee. Bruce doesn't get many signing wrong though!
I think he's the sort of player that would do well here though, has a reasonable goal scoring record in the PL, and that's all we need. I think we create more chances than West Brom do, and he could really flourish here.
Now just get Livermore on a permanent, cheeky loan from Man U of Powell or Zaha, then jobs a good one.
A west brom forum I went to says that Shane Longs wife has just said on twitter to their fans that the mirror article isnt true and that a fee has not been agreed.
@Rhiannehill89 Not going anywhere!Told Shane happyhere &with baby on way it not worth the stress when still in contract! He agreed#happydays His wife 3 hours ago so unless somethings happened since then it seems doubtful
The £5-6m fee isn't for his goals it's because he's a proven success as a bottom half-to mid table PL striker.
