Tentertive enquiry by City. Wages obviously the potential problem... Long shot but look at options A, cost maybe £800k/1 Mill for a loan til end of season but very good chance that his goals will keep us, earn £50 Mill for another season in the Prem, and put him in the England world cup squad. B, we sign another striker on perm basis who can not hit a barn door?
if a deal can be thrashed out, Defoe is one of the most natural goalscorers in english football. yes from me
Could we get him until the end of the season? I thought in March he was off to Montreal? Or is it Toronto? Canada...he's off to Canada. Canada.
I would love this to happen, he is exactly what we need- a poacher & finisher. Sadly, I cannot see this happening, but I said that when we were linker with Thud. For whatever reason we seam to have a decent relationship with spurs
Yeah so the media said. But why go to Canada now. He wants the World cup. He wont get that moving to Canada.. It could be a win win ( very much so for Levy who likes to make a quid)
He's on his way to Canada now, he's due to be unveiled as a Toronto player early next week. I don't know why he keeps getting discussed, we were never going to sign a £90k a week player.
I'm pretty sure he's off in March but could be a loan until then. If it's for a short loan spell, will his wages matter that much to him if he's after one last world cup squad and has a big pay packet coming in March anyway.
I've mentioned him before because a) he's completely and utterly spot on for what we need b) Spurs might have considered £30k (approx) of his wage as a decent offer for a benchwarmer c) the Thudd and Livermore factor d) 1st name on the team sheet for half a season
Now, I know nowt about nowt, but I think we're after Long as numero uno, and possibly Jelavic too if we can get Martinez to shut up talking about Curtis Davies when we ring him up. I just feel it in my waters.
City supporter of 30 years plus, very high up in company ran by family member of Owner. Also told me 6 months before club was sold that Egyptians where looking to buy City.
And just in case anyone is wondering yes, I did speak French in that last message. I'm going out now. Bye.
Think some of you are missing the fact he can come on a short loan before he heads out to play in Canada. And this is likely to be heavily subsidised by Spurs... Who would prefer some cash to no cash for the interim period. The real issue is the risk he gets injured, so it might be more down to his Canadian contract and the impact of him getting crocked before he arrives. It s certainly worth an ask and I believe we would be daft not to ask. I believe the rumours. The wage bill isn't the deal killer some of you think as we are neither buying him or keeping him for very long. I think the risks may scupper the deal not the cash involved.
