This could be a good move for Saylor..... IF we get CB reinforcements in first.
Never thuoght I'd see the words in print 'impressive Mike Williamson'.... <whistle>

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is trying to secure a cut-price deal for Newcastle United's injury-hit defender Steven Taylor, according to reports.

Despite being a regular member of Alan Pardew's side over the years, Taylor has made just two starts for the Magpies this season and looks to be on his way out of St. James' Park.

Losing his place to the impressive Mike Williamson in the heart of the Newcastle defence, the Mail report today that Cardiff are willing to test their resolve.

Solskjaer is also striving to secure a loan deal for Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha and is buoyed by the news that the Red Devils would rather do business with his new side than Crystal Palace.

The 40-year-old is still working on deals for midfield duo of Magnus Wolff Eikrem and Mats Moller Daehli, both capped by Norway, who he worked with at former club Molde and while in charge of the Manchester United reserve team.

It is still unclear whether Taylor, called up to international duty with England twice, will be open to the move.

Don't think Saylor will want to move away at this time in his career, he might have aged and slowed down a bit but he's still got a good head on his shoulders and can still do a job for us.

Me either. I would rather keep him. He is 4th choice at the moment though for sure. Could actually even be behind Dummett.

What happend to our interest in Zaha? Wonder if Manure would be interested in a swap deal for the return of Obertan. I reckon he is just what they need to re-ignite their title challange amd we get a promising youngster who's talant we can nurture.

Sometimes you have to let things go and this is one of those occasions with Steven Taylor.
He may have more heart than most other players, but, in this day and age, he needs more than that. Unfortunately he's just too injury prone, which makes him unreliable, giving Pardew less options to rest players and rotate the squad.

This is the fourth season since promotion and he's only played 54 league games - crap record IMO.

Although I think his times up, I wouldn't sell until we get a replacement.

Are Cardiff stupid, he was rubbish on Saturday and has done nothing since he got called up to the England squad in March last year.

As there seem to be two Steven Taylors, can we keep the one who will put his body on the line for the club, run through a brick wall just to make a tackle, bleeds black and white and is a colossus at the back not letting anything past, and choose to sell the one with no brains who gives penalties away for fun, falls asleep at corners and is prone to act a tit for no apparent reason.

Since we can't split them I honestly wouldn't care too much either way, and that probably says a lot about the unfulfilled potential of this lad.

That **** never existed. As far as I'm concerned even Dummett is ahead of him now.

I wouldn't argue with Dummett being ahead of him now, but I'd say Steven Taylor has had good spells for the club over the years. The problem is that, a bit like Shola, they don't come around often enough and they don't last long enough even when they do. I know neither of them are favourites of yours but they've had their moments and I'd wish them both the best when they moved on.

Look he's not as bad as Shola. There are times he's looked alright, but he only seems to play well alongside Colo. With anyone else he seems to become a liability.

Got to be worth around £3 million and considering his medical history I'd take the money and install a younger, fitter CB. Even if 4th choice I'd nurture him into the squad for next year or 2015.

That's cos the self-destruct button is never too far below the surface. Collo is a calming influence, but even alongside Collo he's done some daft **** at times. Like I said earlier, its a shame cos he had potential to be better than he has been. I wouldn't shed any tears if he was sold but we'd need cover brought in.

Yep, Dummett at CB and Saylor at Cardiff works better for me. Be nice to see Good again, and maybe in time Streete can live up to his potential.

I rated Taylor but he has looked poor in his fleeting appearances in recent times. Last season was the most we've seen of him and to be fair he did ok at various stages. One of those guys who throws in a shocker.

He is 27 now. He should be heading into his prime years. There are plenty of centre halves who have been pretty poor and error strewn until their later years. Will Taylor reach those levels of performance consistently is the big question. Maybe but I'm not convinced it will be here as is heart instead of his head leads him. I love players who are passionate about their club and think it is vital for any club to have local homegrown talent, they give that little bit more. However there has to be balance. Maybe a different environment where he just has to concentrate on improving as a defender would be helpful.

Selfishly I'd retain him as I think as a back up centre back he is good quality. If it was for the lad himself, a move could be the making of him finally.

I get the impression that Taylor looks frightened these days. I used to think that he had good times ahead but they never came and I'm just waiting for the next handball in the penalty area.

If Sunshine wants him down at Dinas Caerdydd then I would allow him to go.

Aside from the home-grown bit, you could be writing about ol' ****us Shambles.

Aren't Shambles the company that put coaches on for the away games?

Oh it's Titus Shambles, you learn something new every day. Thought it was an S and an H instead of the T.

Unless the player is Obertan, I'm not massively keen to see more players leave an already thin squad – especially experienced ones like Saylor.

Whether you like the lad or not he has played a pretty valuable stack of Premier League minutes over the years, plus being a local lad that's tough to replace.

I think the trouble with our squad is a lack of older heads and people who know and understand the club and it's just not our policy anymore to recruit such guys.

We'll only get a token fee now for Steven and there's absolutely no guarantee outgoings will come in. So what's in it for us?
