You've done bugger all, achieved absolutely nothing, made no friends, alienated milllions of fans, there's no trophies to gather up, no celebratory photos off the wall.......the squad will clap you out.just go. For the first time in over 50 years I'm embarassed to be a supporter of Manchester United. I've witnessed all sorts of crap down the years, but do you know what.... there was always a reason for the team underperforming. Never before in that time have I seen the squad morale collapse as it has done now. If you have a footballing bone in your body, if you feel anything for the culture and the history of Manchester United...............go now, you're a waste of space.
So you rate Moyes's first few months at OT worse than, Denis Law's back heel Relegation Dave Sexton Gary Birtles Tommy Doc getting sacked for banging Mary.
The big problem this time around, and this is where you can forget all the historical ups and downs of the past, are the huge financial pressures for success on the pitch. Years ago it was almost like taking turns at winning the PL, everyone pretty much kept pace with each other in terms of transfers and stadium investment and all they got was 50p from the BBC for MOTD. With the millions at stake its a completely different world, each point dropped or PL place lost can amount to millions each week, and over the space of a season that soon mounts up - witness the recent figures posted of the £220 mill loss under Moyes tenure alone. No club, not even this great club, Manchester United, can afford a season-long dip in form, in financial terms alone the consequences would be catastrophic, that is why Moyes will be gone, sooner rather than later. I'm taking bets - end of January.....................
Moyes won't be sacked anytime soon. Just give him time, and it will all turn round. We didn't even play that badly tonight, just got done by yet another terrible refereeing decision
f**king hell, god forbid you support any other club. You're club has been the most successful out of any, yet you're complaining for having a hard time?
What would you plastics have done if Fergie had done that at the start of his tenure at the club - Wait he achieved a hell of a lot given time and patience from the board and fans. Come one wake up and give Moyes time to settle in and get things working and unfortunately for a lot of clubs that will come sooner rather than later. All of the Moyes out brigade are understandably annoyed but are pathetic when you cant even give the bloke a chance.
The matchgoing utd supporters i know expected a rough year and are fully behind him. The amount of knownothing plastics supporting utd is astonishing really Get behind your club and manager, thats what supporting is all about
He got given a 6 year contract for a reason. The board would've known that this was a possibility, especially given the way the team performed the last time SAF announced that he was retiring. I think they'll stick with Moyes for at least 18 months and only if things are terribly dire will they start contemplating his future. He needs to refresh a lot of the squad which is also going to affect results in the short to medium term.
Righto, let's have a look at our current squad; Goalkeepers De Gea - very good no problem Lindegaard - decent cover, no problem Defence Rafael - adequate. Often injured, no specialist back up Smalling - good prospect at centre half, too often used covering right back Jones - good prospect centre half, too often used to cover right back or midfield Vidic - two major injuries, half the player he once was Ferdinand - way too old, patched up out of necessity. Evans - good player, ok. Evra - on the wane, clearly. Needs cover/replacement Buttner - barely adequate cover for LB Fabio- not good enough Midfield Giggs - He's 40 ffs. Should have retired Carrick - very good, although now on the way down from peak Cleverley - patently not even close to being good enough Anderson - worthy only of contempt Fellaini - poor form and injured, could yet turn out ok Valencia - one dimensional but still ok Kagawa- what can I say? A myth of gigantic proportions Nani - an enigma wrapped in a mystery. Should be good enough but isn't, can't be trusted Young - starting to show some form of sorts Zaha - we'll see. Who really knows yet? Forwards Rooney - very good no problems Van Persie, very good but now injured. Ordinarily excellent Januzaj - excellent prospect Wellbeck - good cover, a decent prospect Hernandez - decent cover, that's about it. There are the likes of Powell on loan and some decent prospects but that's about it, unless I forgot someone? AVERAGE and AGEING squad with massive big f**k off holes in pretty much every department. The difference last year is that it was one year younger and some very, very important players stayed fit, which they now are not. Oh, and Alex Ferguson. He is the major difference. Now, did you all expect Moyes to be just as good as Fergie??? Really?????? Well, he isn't, no one is. To stand any chance whatsoever Moyes needs to buy at least five decent players and make the squad his own. To suggest the sack is quite simply f**king ridiculous and you should all hang your heads, those who've suggested it.
Very good post Ruff, I agree with nearly all of your comments. It's scary how inadequate our midfield is. Defense has a few issues but it pales into insignificance compared to our midfield. When last did we dominate a halfway decent opposition's midfield?
Last 16 of the CL, CC semi final, 5 points off the top 4 spots & it's the worst in 50 years? haha, excuse me if I don't weep any tears for you. Football's cyclical & it's about time that United dropped back into the pack rather than sweeping the board every season. Long may it continue, you've had some fantastic glory years & hopefully it's now going to get that bit harder for you. Welcome to the real world & don't cancel your Sky subscription in a fit of temper eh.......
Pretty scary when you look at it like that isn't it. I find it exciting too to be honest though as it's a chance to rebuild a team. Like I said last night though, SAF is to blame for the current position / state we are not NOT David Moyes
I don't know what game you were watching, but you guys were poor. Admittedly i thought the penalty given against you guys was harsh but for a team that was champions last year to not even boss the game against bottom of the league sunderland, that is surprising. I think the chances you created tells its own story, especially telling in the last ten minutes where i can only remember maybe 1 or 2 shots whereas the old Man United of old would have absolutely slaughtered that sunderland side. One has to wonder how David Moyes has turned this team into an incompetent side, his substitutions were absolutely shocking. Here's hoping Sir David gets more time
Typical "want it all" attitude from the op. Did you seriously think there wouldn't be a period of upheaval at your club after a manager who'd been there for a quarter of a century left? please log in to view this image For all Fergies great work over the years this is not a great squad. It's not a terrible one and of course Moyes has made mistakes but what the hell were you expecting? Fergie retires but everything just carries on as normal? You still have two chances of silverware and are within reach of top four. A few defeats and all of a sudden the knives are out despite the glaringly obvious mistakes made by the club in the summer. Show some bollocks, bite the bullet and deal with it without the tears and tantrums, appreciate the fact you've had decades of success. You're back in the real world with the rest of us now (apart from the two oil clubs obviously).
