Evening Gents Just read on BBC Sport than the knee injury Walcott sustainted yesterday against Spurs will result in a lay off of 6 months meaning he will miss the World Cup for England and Arsenal for the rest of the season. Two things worth discussing: What impact will this have on England? Personally I think this is a serious blow as he offers much needed pace and movement up front we badly need. The impact for Arsenal & us. Without Giroud they only really have Walcott as a striker which will now likely force them into the market imo, in which a failure to bring in quality could cost them the title and may bring us closer. What are your thoughts? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25631561 please log in to view this image
1) He is a big player for England so it is a blow but then, I don't think Woy uses him appropriately anyway. 2) They've not had him for most of the season and they've done alright.
It's worse for England IMO. Arsenal can replace him (and they have Podolski back to play up front if necessary) whereas England have few enough options as it is.
Bad for England And for LFC as this surely means Suarez is heading down to the Emirates for some bifters with the Landaners
I think this is bigger for Arsenal than people are letting on. Podolski scores once in a blue moon and Walnutt is their back. They have to spend now imo. This could result in more Suarez nonsense. And yeah its **** for England.
Arsenal got top without Walcott so I don't think they'll miss him massively, he doesn't score much just adds pace. Don't give a cr(a)p about England, hope they don't even make it outta the group tbh.
Podolski has suffered being stuck out on the left a lot though, always looks more effective in the middle. There won't be anymore Suarez nonsense from Arsenal but I do agree this makes them spending even more likely (although I think they would have invested this month anyway).
Yeah hopefully the Suarez nonsense should have passed now. Maybe they want Aspas?! Regards the impact of Walcott for Arsenal its worth checking their board for reactions. They're not happy.
Guys stop ****ting your keks , about as much chance of Arsenal coming in for Luis as us signing me as his replacement... sending freshly starched Y fronts to all of you skidmarks now.
True test to see what Walcott's football brain is really like. It is very very rare that a speedy player does their knee and come back with the same pace, same acceleration, change of direction, etc. A shame, but also why you have to have one of the most important pillars of the player at your disposal, technique.
1. Don't think it's as big a blow to England as some might believe. Walcott is good for charging up the wing, which can be covered by having either Sterling or Townsend. 2. The only reason they have won their last few games is due to Walcott, they will undoubtedly try to buy/loan a new Striker. As for how it effects us, only time will tell.
England dont care really, Arsenal don't normally target same players as us do they its spuds who do that, i asked before Walcott getting injured about them buying, this should get some more urgency going for them in the market, but how long have they had to put up with every window we have enough with what we have from the manager. they have a chance of the title, be a shame to see that go down the drain, they need to buy, but will they, do they have cash to spend.
what i want to know is how come he wasn't in pain cos he could gesture to spurs fans... i suggest spurs fans send a flood of cards with 6 written on them to arsenal now. now... engerlund... walcott is a dope, he is nothing but a runner and hasn't really got a great football brain so Ox and townshend and welbeck are just as good... england need rooney and sturridge mostly but one runner with those. For arsenal? they need a centre forward, they always did.
Absolutely, look at Owen. Even Fowler, who wasn't a speed merchant per se, was never as nippy and rapid in the box as he was before he did his knee in. Wish him all the best - he is, after all, a Liverpool fan. Hope the FA charge him and ban him for twenty games now - just to ****ing prove how utterly ridiculous they are. I bet Dyke is rubbing his bald head wondering how he can arrange for a similar injury for Suarez. We play Stoke on Sunday with Huth coming back - no doubt the FA have given quiet words of encouragement to the Stoke squad.
folwer was very quick, but not like the modern sprinter style.. owen was one, cisse another... fowler lost at least 2 yards with that injury v everton. never the same. which makes leeds buying him for 12mil even more silly. I have to wonder about walcott. on his day when the ball falls to him he is good but he'll neve rgo looking to make something. thats why england need rooney and sturridge far far more.
I was very disappointed with the £12m Leeds paid, it should have been much more. He'd been linked to Arsenal and Leeds prior to moving for between £15m and £18m!
Big loss to Arsenal imo, They'll need to buy now....on this point, it's good news for us if Arsenal lose a match winner.....Shame we won't all see him on the big stage, he's one of the better England players....and there aren't that many! Versatile too. Also seems like a nice kinda bloke, not a total twat like some of his fellow players. Feel for the guy really.
back then? hmmm... I'd have to think about that one. I recollect wanting to snap their hands off. when he was fit he was worth it but 12mil bck then was nearly the record we paid for cisse.
