Or not..... Well, AA - was it more squit you uttered? Another fib? Another failure to engage brain before opening mouth?
Well Stan it appears to have evaporated that idea, let's hope his idea of changing the name evaporates also.
I seem to remember they wanted it in London, but I think it was going to be at Fulham. I think events in Egypt may have just put the kibosh on this one.
It was talked about when Allam first took over and we assumed it'd be played that summer (2011). That was well before the trouble in Egypt wasn't it?
the trouble in Egypt started in January 2011 , this friendly however was offered as a result of the port Said stadium massacre which occurred in Feb 2012 ... as OLM has said , the ongoing troubles going on in Egypt has no doubt put paid to it .. nothing more, nothing less
If it was planned in 2012 but something which had been going on over a year meant it couldn't happen, then it wasn't very well thought out was it? But then it never is with Allam as we know.
It was only ever announced we were offering one. It's then not been possible to arrange a suitable date/venue because the troubles are still going on and the teams can't agree on how to do it. As well as the venue there's an issue over whether it should be a post season or preseason friendly.
I seem to remember Allam giving a bunch of money to someone over the tragedy. I am sure we would have played the match if it could have been worked out.
You can if it's somewhere that there's no basis for the crack to be had. It just undermines it when genuine grievances are commented on if people are looking to create the opportunity where one doesn't really exist.
if you consider 90+ deaths and a good gesture afterwards setting him up as aunt sally then yes .. feel free .. think before you post and look into it It did not happen for reasons stated above ... that's it .. a non story .. ffs get a grip
A friend of a brothers aunties uncle tells me on good authority that Dr Allam is responsible for the whole Arab spring thing. He wont stop until he's got world domination. We will be the first "Tigers on Mars" He's already got the T-shirts available. Never one to miss a good commercial opportunity is he.
There's no need for desperation, he does stupid things on a frequent enough basis to generate criticism himself. Andy Dawson ended up paying the club £30k for a testimonial match which was supposed to make him money for his testimonial fund, which was for charity. Allam treats anyone he likes with total disdain and only gets away with it because things like this rarely make the public eye. If they did, there'd no almost no one left defending him. If there's any reason this game couldn't be carried out it should have been explained why publicly and the idea put on the back burner until it was possible or cancelled completely if it's really necessary. Instead we've just got the usual Allam situation which is him opening his mouth long before thinking about what he's saying, making promises and then just forgetting about them with everyone wondering what's going on. If you publicly announce that it'll happen, and people are still wondering what happened to that idea years later, something clearly isn't right.
maybe its still on "at some point" ... maybe people are now trawling through the last few years to find reasons to diss AA ... who knows .. let the guys run his club ffs he donated a lot of money at the time to the cause .. this is one thing that should not be trawled through the mud like it is being done ... think about the people who died before getting on your high horse
