Did anyone else see the BBC news on Friday where they were discussing the takeover? The reporter said then that he received word from the club that the game wouldn't likely go ahead on Wednesday. EDIT Confirmed as off!
Do you think this might draw the attention of the FA? We had the Doncaster debacle, and now have had to postpone this game twice.
Trouble is the Non-League / League One / League Two clubs have their matches cancelled all the time... I know we've more money than most of those clubs but it would be harsh to have one rule for clubs just because they're higher in the Leagues than others (as location of the Ground also has to come into play surely) i.e. Crawley have had their Bristol Rovers game also cancelled a few times whilst Sheffield Wednesday also had their game against Wigan abandoned whilst didnt they also fail a pitch inspection recently?
Not sure about other clubs other than the Crawley situation. It was more thinking out loud, added in with complaints of other managers in the media might they write to the club? The pitch is absoloutely shocking, and to be fair, if they can't do anything to assist it it might not be playable after a few more matches/heavy rain. It is that bad. Different times I know - but one thing about our pitch in our Premiership run was how immaculate it always looked. Sorry state when you walk up the stairs to your seat, and look down on to the pitch.
Yeah right in front of me in the East Stand there is a horrible patch of mud... Apparently the match has been called off because the pitch is being relaid at the moment so hopefully for Barnsley we'll have a lovely new playing surface
Ah - didn't read the article so thats some good news!! Just have to hope it isn't a repeat of Barnsley home from last year now!
I think there's a real possibility of losing this game. I expect that rather than play Poyet we will see Gower or Hughes in midfield, with Sordell up front and an import on the left. Poyet may be on the bench is my guess.
bump bump...... so it's on???? Jeez does the NW corner of the pitch look bad I wonder if the teams will be allowed to warm up on the pitch prior to KO?
Pitch inspection today, OS doesn't say what time. If the game does go ahead the attendance will be a shocker. I hope if this is the case it sends a message to Mr. Bradshaw not to take the fans for granted.
From reading about the state of the pitch on Saturday, I really can't see how it will go ahead. The dome helps keep the rain off, but the grass wont be drying underneath. I know little about gardening, but it's said that the ground will struggle to dry if it doesn't get natural light and air?
I think that's why the pitch was left uncovered yesterday until about 4 pm. Since the water levels are still exceptionally high there may also be a problem of the water being soaked up from underneath. All the speculation could be stopped by a full explanation from the club, maybe a Q&A session with some of the fans. I really can't see the problem with this, unless there's a culture of omerta at Charlton.
Confirmed as on. Though the wording is a bit off ''It passed the 1:30pm inspection''. Does that mean there may well be a second?
