First and foremost magnificent win and credit to Laudrup too for bringing on Canas for Shelvey when he did. I thought everyone was either outstanding or very good today with the exception of Tiendalli who stuck out like a turd in a ice cream factory. Constantly letting his man get in crosses, putting us under pressure giving away absolutely needless fouls and gave the ball away more than anyone else whilst going forward with the usual end product. Taylor's performance was world's apart, he put his hands up for a place in the starting 11 today and if not for Davies at LB I'd have him at RB over Tiendalli every time when's Rangel's out.
Got to agree. Our defence is the weak link at the moment with Chico being pretty erratic a la Utds goal where he was in no mans land without a clue of where Hernandez was. Definitely a part of our game to improve upon but a great result and so happy we went for it after they went to ten men. Don't think a replay would have been great for us
I agree it's probably not the time but Tiendalli did stand out as the most ponderous of our lot today. Taylor at RB is a good shout if Rangel not playing.
Chico broke up alot of potential chances for United too, honestly thought he played very well today overall.
Chico invariably has a decent game but there is always a mistake in him somewhere I think. Maybe, just as it is with keepers, we notice it more in those positions.
I don't know why he hasn't been given a chance there already he was outstanding at RB during the Olympics he was one of Team GB's best players, Tiendalli is consistently our worst player.
Great victory today. United's injuries not withstanding - they played their best available XI - and regardless of the red card. We have several key players out too. We also rested regulars like Williams, Rangel and Davies. We could have fielded a stronger team but didn't, played a solid game and won going away. Great confidence booster following the displays against Villa and City where we deserved a lot more than we got.
yea. My confidence in our team has grown in the last few weeks. Even without the results, i've been quite pleased with us.
Tiendalli was the poorest on the pitch no doubt, and has gone backward from last season, no guts today to take his man on, and always passed back, would prefer Jaz Richards over him if this is all he's up to! Chico worries me too..................
Chico and tremble should have dealt with that cross, anything inside the 6 yrs box should be meat and drink to a goal keeper ,all things considered Chico gains focus after a bad error and he did that today, I've said for a while that amat is becoming the better prospect of all three centre halves, was superb again today for such a you g lad in the heart of defense. A real find by laudrup yet again
Amat is going to be a star of the Spanish squad in the 2018 World Cup. I don't think we quite realize how good he is. He goes about his business with great efficiency. He has poise beyond his years and is as expected ultra comfortable on the ball.
I have posted before that Amat is composed and plays the game simply and without fuss , he has the makings of a very good centre half ,hopefully with us for the foreseeable future
Not quite sure I agree with the views above tbh. Tiendalli played probably the best he has all season...granted...that's not saying much, but still. He put in a number of quality crosses that had Poz been playing out wide in a traditional winger role may have born more fruit (he only had Bony to aim for after all.) That being said Buttner made him look very poor defensively throughout the game....however being that was Man Utd's left back then you could argue he clearly wasn't getting much help from the winger in front of him. Onto Taylor, he was good defensively, put in some meaty tackles and stood strong against good wingers, however he gave the ball away cheaply on a number of occasions and offered very little going forward. In fact if anyone's guilty of passing backwards inexplicably in the team, it has to be him. Basically, all I'm saying is they were probably our two weakest links during the game, and I think Taylor's got a lot to do to displace Ben, and I'm not 100% sure he'd be much/if any of an upgrade to play in place of Tiendalli at right back.
If we could morph Ben into Neil he'd have it all, Neil's defensive talent combined with Ben's forays' into the opposition box ,what a combination
I thought Taylor had a good game also Amat, Bony did well could have scored 1 more. both teams will field different teams on sat. Moyers wont want to lose again to us ,I saw that Donneley was on the bench why not play him up front with Bony give the boy a chance, would be great to come away with a point 3 would be better but lets not get to greedy we all know we need the points.as some have said 2pts out of 12 ,I think we could end up with 8pts from the next 4 games.
