Norwich and QPR both interested in signing Newcastle winger Jonas Gutierrez He is no longer a part of Toon boss Alan Pardew's long-term plans - and needs to play regularly to make Argentina's World Cup squad please log in to view this image Transfer target: Jonas Gutierrez is wanted by QPR and Norwich. QPR and Norwich City are both interested in signing Jonas Gutierrez â after People Sport revealed last week that the Newcastle left winger was available, writes Alan Oliver in the Sunday People. The Argentinian is one of four Toon players who do not figure in Alan Pardew's long-term plans at St James'. The others are Steven Taylor, Sylvain Marveaux and Gabriel Obertan. Gutierrez is aware that other Premier league clubs are interested. He also knows needs to play regularly if he is to make the Argentina World Cup squad for Brazil in the summer. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...castle-transfer-news-jonas-gutierrez-2989710?
Gutierrez wouldn't be bad but that would possibly mean the end for Hoilett who has been a major disappointment. Would definitely take Steven Taylor.
Oh come on, does anyone who think playing for us will mean he will get into Argentina's WC squad? Good player but 30 years old so would be yet another to come here to put his feet up. It would be money down the drain, a typical redknapp signing.
He did a couple of years ago while playing for Newcastle in the championship and went to the 2010 world cup, the toon seem to rate him, perhaps worth a shot?
He would fit right in with the normal Redknapp buying policy, including past his best. However, he could keep Ale company as a fellow countryman.
We do need a decent left winger who can get balls in the box, and score a few. I've given up on Hoillet, he doesn't do this and he he's out injured too much. It's time to sell and replace him.
You dont spend multi millions on a fee and 50+k a week on player in his 30s that is "worth a shot".
Well its worked for many clubs, so why can't it work for us? We are lacking something in the midfield and I think adding him would only increase the chance of promotion, not hinder it.
Wayne Routledge offered us that combination a few seasons back (we could have kept him too). Here's 9 pts he had a hand in that season. Lovely through ball for Ishmael Miller to score @ 4:20 to score the winning goal against Leicester (1-0) - great celebration afterwards:- His winning goal at Reading with 10 men (0-1):- Taarabt's wonderful pass for his winning goal against Coventry (2-1):-
What club has over half its squad in their 30s and has to replace at least a dozen players every year? Its never worked and is never sustainable.
Yes, it was a big shame we lost Routledge. Certainly wouldn't mind him back instead of Hoillet, but he's on a new long contract with Swansea.
Yes, we missed out on signing him at a good price, I believe due to Tango & Cash cheapness during the management changeover. Ishmael Miller is still out there though - a Forest player who was on loan at Yeovil until year end. Surprised he is only 26.
When we first got Shaun Derry and clint him everybody, including Warnock said they were on their last legs, look at how well the both of them have gone on to do for us, I just think that having something rather than toilet in the midfield would give is that extra leg in the season and take us out of this slip that we are having at the moment
