QUEENS Park Rangers have made contact with Crystal Palace about signing Darren Ambrose.

The South London Press understands that the Premier League new boys have made contact with the Eagles to see if a deal can be done for the 27-year-old.

Ambrose's career was revitalised under Neil Warnock during his time in charge at Selhurst Park - scoring 20 goals after a free transfer from Charlton in 2009.

And Warnock was close to sealing a move for the ex-Ipswich and Newcastle man last summer. A deal had been agreed only for CPFC2010, then in the process of buying Palace and bringing them out of administration, persuading Ambrose to sign a new long-term contract.

But last season was a frustrating one for the set-piece specialist, a succession of niggling injuries preventing him from making a major impact.

Now QPR, quiet in the transfer market this summer, have Ambrose in their sights as they look to add quality to their squad.

he will do well in midfield with scott parker, jimmy bullard and jermaine jenas and lee bowyer
just behind andy johnson, robbie keane and peter crouch....who we are buying as well.

I'd prefer Clyne or Danns. If palace lose Ambrose, Speroni or Danns then that will almost certainly send them down

I know he can knock in a few goals but he isn't a premiership quality player.
Is he much better than Buz or Rowly, i'm not sure

This one won't go away will it?

Not sure he's Premier league quality, but as we know, Sir Neil is no mug.

Doesn't exactly thrill me either. Probably better than Rowlands (these days), not sure he's as good as Buz.

If we have to raid Palace, then Clyne probably the best - unless we're already sewing up Walker / Naughton.

Didn't have a great season last year, but personally I still really rate him. If anyone can get the best out of him it's Warno.

Palace deny QPR bid for Ambrose
    Crystal Palace star Darren Ambrose

Crystal Palace officials insist they have not received a bid from QPR for midfielder Darren Ambrose.

Reports had suggested the midfielder was on his way to Loftus Road for £1.2m, but senior figures at Selhurst Park have confirmed no bid has been received for a player who almost moved to Loftus Road a year ago.

The move was held up as the CPFC 2010 consortium completed their purchase of Palace, and they insisted the deal could not go ahead. And although the player is likely to want a shot at the Premier League, he remains a Palace player.

But the attraction of working again with Neil Warnock, who was Ambrose's manager at Palace for eight months, would be obvious.

I'm with Peter1954qpr on this one, stick him in the robbie keane box of sh1t.
Actually thats a bit harsh, he was a good player and served his club well, I just dont think
he is the player we need to sign.

Palace only have four decent players:Ambrose,Danns,Speroni and Clyne. And still, I only think Speroni is good enough. Clyne is still young so he has potential, but not prem class at the moment.Danns is improving where as Ambrose seems to be at a bit of a stand still
