I'm not worried about any longer term consequences. Mikel and Chelsea made a complaint of racism against Clattenburg which was similarly dismissed and no-one remembers that or gives Mikel any stick for it.

As I said much ado about nothing. I think its disgraceful when players give out to Refs & if a ref say something back they go & cry to mummy (clubs). And worse is clubs asking PL they don't want so so ref to officiate future games.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/southampton/10550189/Adam-Lallana-and-Mark-Clattenburg-prove-we-need-to-record-the-on-field-conversations.html

Article from Paul Haywood of the telegraph about the need to record on the field.

Agree that this should happen to avoid this one word against another nonsense we're stuck with. This incident could of been dealt with promptly and efficiently. If some good is to come out of this, then let it be that the rules and the way the game is officiated and the way players treat the officials is improved.

I note in the Telegraph article that they have assumed Clattenburg was correct in what he said. They said that Lallana wasn't the first player to get an inflated ego after being called up...thus giving credence to this claim about Adam. How can they decide that?

The Adkins decision can be defended, and most pundits now admit the change has proved to be a good decision, but there's a few examples. Off the top of my head there have been things like banning press photographers from games, banning reporters from talking to fans outside the ground, the ongoing ill-will between the club and the local paper and between Cortese and Le Tissier.

As I say, it's not a major criticism, most of these things are relatively unimportant (especially if the club has success on the pitch) and the club certainly isn't solely responsible for the Le Tissier and Echo situations, but at times some of the club's decisions seem a bit petty and unnecessary. The press can use all these things as sticks to beat the club with. Why give them that opportunity?

How is the depths of League 2? I would dive down and check it out, but I'll need to come up for air by the time I get there.

The fact that Southampton are complaining so much about the FA's verdict that there's no case to answer with Clattenburg just proves his point.

I mean, Clattenburg didn't even swear or say anything derogatory. So what is Southampton's problem? It just looks like a witch hunt to me.

Thanks for your input, your point is duely noted. You could have said it in the thread about this, you really could, but you like the attention don't you? Bet you are the type who gets undressed with the light on and curtains open. I know your type.

To be fair, with the FA being the complete bollocks that they are, I wouldn't ever say that the FA saying there's no case to answer is necessarily indicative of there not actually being a case to answer.

I noticed that too, It annoyed me that the reporter actually takes Clattenburgs comment as gospel. When Lallana and practically every other player has been moaning at referees for years

What evidence is your comment actually based on in this instance? Hearsay, bias, tittle tattle from the Press? What do actually know about Adam Lallana? Uninformed comments like yours rather make you look silly, nothing has been said by Adam yet, the Club has been responsible for the complaints about the incident.

Well the tide is in at Nottarf Krap, it apparently resembles a fish pond at the moment, which is kind of appropriate, could open it as a Sea Life Centre and make a few bob.

There's already a Sealife Centre in Portsmouth, probably isn't the demand for two of them.

Oh I've come up with a couple of cracking chants that could be used were this happening to an opposition player, fear not!
