I think we have to bring another keeper in if true. Imagine if something did happen to Vito we couldnt risk say three games (had mannone been sent off) with a inexperienced keeper we need every point we can get.

The Republic of Ireland international has been sidelined for several weeks by the problem, which requires an operation to correct. However, a scheduled appointment has had to be cancelled because Westwood has been ill and is taking a course of antibiotics, and the delay means his season could effectively be over. Sunderland boss Gus Poyet said: "It has been postponed because of a little illness. You cannot have an operation when you are ill, so he is on antibiotics now." Asked how long the player is likely to be out, the Uruguayan said: "I would like to say three to four months. Now, if you are going to think when is the season going to finish, it's probably to the end, yes." Meanwhile, Poyet admits Sunderland's January transfer dealings with determine whether they can secure their Premier League status. Agreed. I don't ever really recall him letting us down. As for "Over to you Ellis", I would love to see him dip into his deep pockets again, and business-wise, there's a case for doing so, but after all the **** we've bought under the last 4-5 managers, you could understand why he would be reluctant to do so. Anyway, fingers crossed, and toes, and eyes...
You can't just include the up-front buying & selling figures. You need to include the additional costs, increased/higher wages and the depreciation costs of the players to the accounts of the business. That's why the club is losing money every year and why ES is "apparently" reluctant to keep dipping into his pocket (I say apparently - because that's been mentioned in the press over the last year or so). That's also why my biggest concern will be if we go down, ES could write-off his losses and walk away.
I don't think it's the fact that we've managed to balance the books. It's more to do with the fact that what we have bought has been ****e. Therefore giving us any money may result in more ****e.
The bloke must be getting fed up seeing £m chucked about with nothing to show for it. My hope is that he`s prepared to show some faith in Gus even if it is a last fling.
