Moyes furious over referee's decisions

David Moyes says it is "scandalous" that Manchester United were not awarded a penalty during their 2-1 defeat by Tottenham.

Moyes sweating over his job?

Lampard & Ivanovic out for a month

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says Frank Lampard and Branislav Ivanovic will be out of action until late January.

Two big guns to be losing.

And our old friend Lawro has this to be said of us.

What they need in a nutshell: Quality, not quantity.

Window shopping: Newcastle did some very good business in the last January transfer window. It took some of those players a while to settle in and get used to the Premier League but they are reaping the benefits this season.

The Magpies first XI is very strong indeed and, bearing in mind they only made one notable signing in the summer - QPR striker Loic Remy who has come on loan and done very well - I think United manager Alan Pardew is in a good position if somebody he really wants becomes available.

I don't see Pardew making many signings this time around and, if he does, it will be a case of quality, not quantity. If they don't get anyone then I don't see it being a massive problem.

As far as people leaving, it is no surprise to see Yohan Cabaye's name back in the papers.

But Arsenal - who bid for him in the summer - say they don't want him now and Pardew seems to be adamant that Cabaye is staying. The good thing from his point of view is that he does not have to buy players and he does not need to sell anyone either.

Linked with: Alex McCarthy 24, GK (Reading), Warner Hahn 21, GK (Dordrecht), Chris Samba 29, CB (Dynamo Moscow), Mousa Dembele 26, CM (Tottenham), Wilfried Zaha 21, FW (Manchester United), Ola Toivonen 27, FW (PSV Eindhoven), Luuk de Jong 23, CF (Borussia Monchengladbach), Bafetimbi Gomis 28, CF (Lyon), Cheick Diabate 25, CF (Bordeaux), Alfred Finnbogason 24, CF (Heerenveen).

I haven't seen it but heard people talking about it on the radio this morning
and it sounded like it was the same scenario as ours with Tim bringing down the WBA player

as to the sending off of Debuchy
technically, was it any worse than a certain player (locally) who had his red card recinded
I mean it looked bloody awful but
he won the ball and there was no contact with the other player

all I'm saying is that the elite group of referees are so inconsistant

Far too much inconsistancy.

The problem is that it usually works against us.

To be honest I think it's a red. There is no excuse for a 2-footed lunge anymore. He lunged at the feet of a player, and that's what sealed the deal. If he had lunged at open space it'd be ok.

I would suggest when you are watching the game you take off your black and white tinted glasses

Debuchy: He did indeed get the ball without touching the man and it wasn't what I'd call a 'high challenge'. However, he dived in two footed with his studs showing and clearly can't have been fully in control of the tackle. The style and intention of diving in like that mean that you are always going to get pulled up for it in the modern game and every player knows that. You could argue the red was harsh as I'm pretty sure he didn't make any contact with the other player until after he had won the ball but you dive in like that and you take your chances. Apart from Debuchy you're the only person I've heard saying it shouldn't have been a red. Similar to Browns the other day: Played the ball? Yes. Won the ball? Yes. Reckless? Yes.

I can't see any argument under todays rules for it not being a red. As with Browns, at one time these kind of challenges would have been fine and regarded as nothing more than a strong challenge. The rules now deem it a straight red and 3 games.

If you prefer red ones it can always be arranged.

I thought the Man United one was as stonewall as you're ever likely to get.

Red card, penalty for 2-2 – plus I wouldn't have been surprised if United then went and grabbed 3-2.

I thought it was more clear cut than Krul's but you'd expect the referee to give it to the home team, plus we got the luck versus Stoke, so no complaints.

But Moyes has every right to be angry, it changed the result and while Fergie was there ol' baldy bonce would give them everything.
I also don't think Moyes is typically a guy who bemoans decisions or uses them as an excuse – I suspect he's just as ticked off with the standard of refereeing in general this season.

Oh and how Howard Webb can be described as the league's best referee is utterly beyond me.
Far too concerned on being rated top and picked for World Cup duty to give bold decisions and when he does they are invariably incorrect.
