Come on Smug, the Norwich player was sent off with 8 minutes to go. So nothing like you have tried to put across here. West Ham lost against Fulham after having Nolan sent off a few minutes before half time. I would be up for the fight more if our players actually give a ****, which is also what Poyet seemed to be angling at with his post match press conference.
Get Wes Brown back, rest some players on Saturday - we should still be able to beat Carlisle - and start again.
PHIL Bardsley admits Sunderland’s toothlessness in front of goal is costing them dearly. And he blamed a failure to be strong in attack, rather than a weakness in defence, for costing the Black Cats against Aston Villa yesterday. “We dominated possession, kept the ball and moved the ball, trying to bring them out and create chances,” he said following the 1-0 defeat which kept the Wearsiders at the bottom of the Premier League table. “We created chances but again we didn’t convert them, and that has been a banana skin for us this season. “We chased the game and tried to create opportunities in the second half, and I think Emanuele Giaccherini’s goal might have been onside – so that decision went against us. “But, at the end of the day, in front of goal, we are just simply not good enough at the minute.” Yesterday was the ninth time in 20 Premier League games that Sunderland have failed to get on the scoresheet. And Sunderland’s poverty in attack was underlined by the fact that apart from Giaccherini’s disallowed goal, the Black Cats managed only one other strike on target in the whole game – when Ki Sung-Yueng forced a save out of under-worked keeper Brad Guzan. It meant that the home side were unable to overturn a 15th-minute goal caused by a combination of Lee Cattermole’s slip and Gaby Agbonlahor’s coolness in front of goal. http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport...-sunderland-s-striking-deficiencies-1-6346460 ............................................. Inability to score.
I've tried to put nowt 'across' tbh, I didn't know when he was sent off. The fact remains that Palace messed up at home against Norwich, just like us. West Ham have lost Nolan and a local derby. Cardiff lost, Hull lost etc etc etc .............. I'm putting across that there are some poor teams about and anything can still happen.
I agree with smug that we still have the opportunities to stay up. But whilst I'll never give up hope while hope remains, I am beginning to doubt that we'll take those opportunities. And Bardsley can shut up about our defence. Campbell's goal for Cardiff was a shocker. Three of our lot couldn't stop a cross and Campbell wasn't picked up at all!
Dear Safc fans, It’s a difficult game to reflect on because up until the goal we were in total control and then the mistake changed the game completely. We were excellent in the opening stages without being able to hit the target; that’s something we’ve been missing. Normally the teams at the bottom do miss that quality – the last shot, the last pass, the last decision and we paid the price today because there are games when you need to take advantage when you are on top. Anytime, anyone can make a mistake and unfortunately today it was against us. It’s up to the players, they are on the pitch – it’s about characters now, we’ll wait and see. All the best, Gus Poyet
