Seems really weird to me to be sitting down preparing to watch a live tv Premier League match (Saints vs Chelsea) when almost all the rest are kicking off at the same time. That is all.
I’m sat in front of the telly with my cup of coffee and the wife complains when I sing (no idea why)
There is a black out for TV companies to show any live action in this country between 3pm and 5pm on Saturdays (the exception used to be the FA Cup final before that was moved to 17:30 kick offs). However, on Boxing Day (Thursday) and New Years Day (Wednesday) this does not apply. It could have happened in any of the previous seasons when Sky had these rights but Sky opted to show the games after the 3pms at 17:30 and 19:45, back to back. However, BT have the "holiday rights" and instead chose to show back to back games at 15:00 and 17:30. Odd really, in terms of ratings, BT have given themselves competition with games that aren't even being shown [the other 3pms]. The reason they're probably did it on Boxing Day is to avoid competition with the Championship games Sky were showing at 17:30 and 19:45 (because Sky's Gillette Soccer Saturday beat BT's last head to head Premier League game in ratings, never mind a live game). I guess, for consistency, BT went with the same back to back time slots today as Boxing Day.
