Which is why it's going to go to the wire. I'm puzzled where all this optimism is coming from. Im no pessimist, nor a happy clapper, and I know our positive stats at the minute - I threw them at a Hull lad on here just a couple of days ago, but it's not good enough relying on other teams to lose. We had a golden chance to be out of the bottom 3 going into the CArdiff game and they came out like they were full of turkey stuffing! We have to win games, simple as, and we aren't doing that enough yet.
When you consider we lost 8 of our first 9 games, to still be well in touch after 20 is remarkable IMO. Poyet is doing an amazing job given the state of things when he arrived and with a transfer window to plug some gaps ahead AND a lovely run of juicy games to come next month, I'm fairly buzzing at the minute.
Why was it a golden chance? Cardiff beat West Brom at home in December and have recently drawn against Man Utd as well as beating Swansea. They also beat Man City at home. What right does the bottom side have to go there and take their 'golden chance'? Not being funny mate but our current form, for the bottom team, is better than any of our rivals.
If you win all four matches, I will donate £20 to a charity of your choice. No way in hell is that happening.
I think you will get 9 points. You need to imo.Cardiff have the Jan from Hell.Your Feb is difficult. If you are going to get safe you need 9 minimum in Jan.
I'll go one better, if we get 9 points from the next 4 games I will donate a tenner to the Foundation of Light. No chance imo, though I'd love to be proved wrong. EDIT: one better in terms of the success ratio required, one worse in terms of actual payout, coz I'm a tight bastard
Hull have one home game in January, Chelsea ....... then play Spurs at home and go to Sunderland in the next game. That doesn't seem like heaven to me tbh.
Ok I will hold you to it. As I said I based my prediction on three wins and a drawn I will suggest that the money goes to St Benedict's Hospice in Ryhope
Sandy I will and all donations should go to St Benedict's Hospice If we do it I will add another £20 so that's £60 so far any body else want to join in. It's win win, if we pull it off we are all in a good mood and a very good cause gets much needed money
Your on Washy. Sounds like a good cause pal. Maybe a few more will pitch in and give the Hospice a nice little cheque.
Totally agree.I would sooner have your fixtures. This is why I have been saying I believe our visit to SOL could be crucial to both clubs. We could be very close-but that does mean you will nee to turn winnable fixtures into wins.January is your must win month.4 draws will be nowhere near good enough. 4 points for us will be enough. We may get 3 on Wednesday at a worn out liverpool
I'm amazed we are bottom of the league and not won back to back all season, yet some posters think we are going to go through January with 4 straight wins! Think we need a bit of realism as Villa will surely be targeting us as the game, they can get back into form with a win. If we do lose and looking at the fixtures in Feb, I am still very worried. We need to remember where we are and try not to expect to just turn up and beat Villa, which I suspect is some posters way of thinking. Somebody save me from being the pessimist, I really don't want to be!
Glad its not just me, I'm hoping I'm proved wrong however I cannot see us breaking past Villa's parked bus.
There's no goals in the team, our highest goalscorer has 3 goals, them stats usually occur in relegated teams. We still haven't beat any team we have played in the bottom 8 all season. Also outplayed the last two games, keep playing like that and we won't be able to keep them results up (I know we had better chances against Cardiff but I'm talking about performance)
