Loic Remy: QPR might want me back next season 31 Dec 2013 07:30 Newcastle United's top scorer Loic Remy has admitted he is still unsure about his future and could even return to Queens Park Rangers next season Share on print Share on email Newcastle United striker Loic Remy celebrates after scoring against Stoke City at St James' Park Newcastle United striker Loic Remy celebrates after scoring against Stoke City at St James' Park 2013 Getty Images Loic Remy says he is still unsure about his future at St Jamesâ Park. Newcastle Unitedâs top scorer admits he could even return to Queens Park Rangers next season. And he misses playing in the Champions League, which he tasted during his days at Lyon and Marseille. When asked about his future, Remy said: âIâm sorry, I donât know. At the moment I donât know. âThe president of QPR may want to keep me next season.â QPR chief Tony Fernandes pipped United to Remyâs signature last January when he played the French international at video game FIFA to help secure the move. And in the last week Jamie Redknapp, son of QPR boss Harry, has also gone public by indicating United would have to pay a âhigh feeâ for the strikerâs services. QPR are just a point off an automatic promotion place but Remy has his heights set higher than just the Premier League. Remy also said: âI miss the Champions League. It is a very special competition. âNext season I can play the Champions League again. âWe will see what happens, if I stay here or if we play in the Champions League.â Yet Remy was facing a future in the Championship until United brought him in on loan. And on his goalscoring form, Remy said: âMaybe it is the stadium or it is magic. But since I arrived I feel very confident. âWhen I arrived people said I would see in my first game I would be surprised because the atmosphere is so loud. âI said, OK âCome onâ.â Pardew has made his feelings clear on Remyâs future. Speaking on Absolute Radioâs Rock âNâ Roll Football Show, Pardew said: âHe has been terrific, he is a lovely young boy. âI think he has got great technical ability, and he is going to have a great career in the Premier League for sure. âAnd hopefully with us, we feel we can sign him, we have the finance to do that, but of course probably at the end of the year, Loic and his agent and his representatives will decide where his future is. ââ50,000 Geordies, there is not a lot of clubs who can beat that. Thatâs what I say to my players. They think the grass is greener, and we have lost some good players in this football club. âJoey Barton moved on, Andy Carroll, and actually you have to argue, have they moved onto better clubs? âBecause when they were here they were absolutely terrific for us, and I think sometimes the grass isnât always greener as we know.â
Too early for him to think about that. He still doesn't even know if he will be able to play for anyone but Scrubbs United next season.
I've seen a couple of articles this week that state we can set a fee for him which would suggest the release clause may only have been applicable at the end of last season. It was around then that his rape charge came up and suddenly no-one was interested. One article quoted a £12million fee...
Colonel Klink to Schultz, "He can play for Stalag 13 United or into the cooler he goes and throw away the key." Yes Herr Kommandant!
Newcastle are big club without doubt and I have been there many times with my work and love the people ... possibly some of the best in the UK IMO. They have a passion I like about football and I consider them and Liverpool/Everton a true testament to what a fan base should be. However the rub here is London ... one if not the best city in the world and I sincerely believe that our club will one day be thought of an a exciting growing Capital club that will command the highest of status ... whatsmore as daft as people think i am I believe it will happen and QPR and its brand will grow to point that many on here won't be able to understand ... it will happen and we will be signing and holding the next Remys at our club. He is a wonderful player and I hope he returns for us of course i do. I want him and Adel back
I hate Newcastle. This statement is to feed the ego’s of the Geordie fan base that read it. He add’s the phrase Geordies as if that is to make it better. As if that’s better than 50,000 Cockneys, or 50,000 Scousers or 50,000 Brummies. Based on personal experience the 40 odd thousand Brummies at Villa are far louder than the 50,000 Geordies. Newcastle is only a big club in its own mind because there’s sod all else going in in the North East bubble that Newcastle is. At least Leeds have some past glories in many of the fans living memories to cling on to. Newcastle haven’t won a major trophy since 1955!! Their big club status is self awarded. Carroll moved onto Liverpool and Barton on to Marseille both better and bigger clubs than Newcastle. Also are Newcastle a bigger club than West Ham? And if we get promoted are they a bigger club then us? Marginally but only because they’ve got a bigger ground. And if we get promoted we’ll hopefully spend money wisely this time and overtake them within a few years. Back to Remy though- great news. If we get promoted it will take a big offer to get him off us and even if we don’t it shows all those know it alls on this forum that they didn’t know about the supposed clauses in his contract after all.
Mate, iquestioned his "escape clause" some months ago and was told (with some authority) that once the 7.5 MILL was met, we had no say in the matter. Does anyone actually know what it says and If we can up the price. Like i said before, i 2 clubs want him then surely we take the highest bidder dont we? or is that too simplistic.?
Its a no lose situation for us in the summer. Get him back and we have a quality striker virtually guaranteed PL goals. Sell him and we should be looking to get at the least 15million - if not more.
It would be great if he returned (and we were promoted).,But don't hołd your breathe as it is very unlikely. I personally see him at Arsenal.
There's no highest bidder pushing the price up, anyone who wants him can just offer the release clause amount and we can't say no, they won't start outbidding each other up to £15mill. Two or three clubs will all offer the amount and then offer him terms and it'll be up to him to decide. The only thing is whether promotion for us back to the PL will remove the activation in his clause, if that's the case we can hold out for what ever we like or keep him!
There must have been a clause, whether by a certain date or, as you say, promotion, that will remove the fixed price. For once, TF and Beard appear to have got a decent deal. Like others I hope he stays...
