Roberts has had one dodgy game, along with 6 or 7 others it should be said v Cardiff but otherwise I think there's a good footballer in there. Brown and Roberts would be a great partnership IMO.

I'll just mention, for the record, that I don't believe Roberge had the stinker some people are claiming.

He's only just come into the team and had very little protection from the midfield.

He also had one of our best shots on target in the whole game ........ I won't be condemning him for losing the ball once and mistiming a couple of tackles.

    Just saying like ........

Our midfield and left back were awful on Saturday and allowed the two central defenders to carry the burden alone. Roberge has all the potential to become a good player at this level IMO but I'm not convinced about diakite at all. When available, a Roberge and Brown central pairing would be excellent IMO.

I agree, they both appear to have what Poyet is looking for and Brown would 'educate' Roberge.

I think he would develop tremendously under Professor Brown. Roberge is already a pretty good footballer but just needs a bit of help playing that in England's 100mph game. That will come with a decent run in the team and alongside our best defender and one of the EPL` s as well.

    Spot on.

Sir Alex Ferguson described Wes Brown as the most talented defender he has ever worked with. He's definitely the most talented defender I've ever seen at Sunderland, he oozes class.

I hope you're right but in the short term I'm afraid they both prefer to play on the left side of centre defence so I'm not sure they'll play together much. Diakite and Wes for now would be my choice

Steve bold was better, much better than brown at Sunderland.

Disagree Tony. Bould was immense but my grandad had more pace. Brown still has pace aplenty.
