Probably. He does seem to offer something else though, the chance of a bit of magic. I don't think I've seen enough of him to judge, but if Pochettino has, fair enough. It doesn't matter who the player is, he has to fit in with the manager's vision. I'd still be sorry to see him go though. I can see him lighting up the pitch for someone else, though I don't suppose it'll be in the Prem so maybe it won't hurt too much.
He likes playing Everton. He scored at Goodison last year, he arguably played his best game of last season against them at St Mary's (Poch's first game in charge), and was fantastic yesterday. However, he just doesn't kick on from that. 'Flash in the pan' is the phrase I would use to sum him up.
It was a very good shot. The only reason it was a goal was a keeping error. That shouldn't detract from the fact that it was a good move and nice to see someone have a crack from distance.
Absolutely, we don't shoot from distance enough. If you don't buy a ticket, you don't win the raffle.
He doesn't go up in my estimation after that "wonder goal" (slightly fortunate, imo). Also, the celebration was... bizarre. The only reason I noticed him after the goal was because his shirt was the one with no number on the back. He was the guy who insisted on taking every free kick after the goal, and not one of them was a good one.
Who knows, he may have been carrying knocks/illness etc. If we don't have to sell then why not keep him and see how he gets on with a bit of confidence. If he goes I would imagine its because he wants the move with the world cup in mind. Play him from the start in the cup along with Clyne, Fonte, Morgan. These players have not played much over x mas, so the extra game time may help fitness. Should be a comfortable win really as Burnley are going for promotion, so can't see them playing their best XI
Well he has not started a league match this season so you can't point at a string of poor performances either
I remember him doing this throughout last seasons home game against West Ham. He even insisted on taking the corners and unfortunately he did not deliver one decent corner and all his free kicks were lacking accuracy and over hit. Unfortunately I am not over exaggerating as I remember commenting about this during and after the game. I also agree that he does very little pressing, if any. Don't get me wrong, I would love it if he could make a go of things but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be happening.
If nothing else, that goal along with one or tow other good moments can make up a 'short' video highlighting his talents to potential purchasers.
The disallowed goal vs arsenal at St Marys last season was a highlight. More of that please Gaston, and you may have a future here.
Never forget that only goals from open play actually count in the final score of a football match. Vin
and look who was the first man back defending IN our box when Everton broke. Overall though, unless there has been something we don't know about (maybe one with problems??), then he hasn't fulfilled the undoubted potential he has and maybe time to move on. There I said it
