Just goes to show how genuinely talented English players can be overlooked in favour of supposedly superior foreigners. Can't believe anyone thinks the present Spurs midfielders are all better than him. Javelin.
To be fair, Spurs have some very talented midfielders that just aren't clicking at the minute. I understand why they let Hudd go, but who cares, we're the benefactors here.
Thudd deservedly made Garth Crooks Team of the Week. But Maynor Figueroa (?). Hmm. Was he even mentioned in any of our MOM posts???
There is one big difference between Huddlestone and the current spurs mids - they're far more mobile, which is in check with the way AVB wanted to play. Look at how Paulinho makes surging runs into the box, Huddlestone doesn't do that so didn't really fit into their style. Although this season we've seen an excellent defensive side to his game I didn't know he was so good at, so you could argue he could have played in Sandro's place.
To be fair to Thudd, I think he is sticking to SBs game plan. In the past couple of games I have seen him start to take on his man and he doesn't look all that immobile to me.
We should make a point of rescuing talented english* players from splinter arse. Micah Richards next? *I'd take foreign too
If TH carries on playing like he is then he will make the England squad. imo. So who will bid for his hair when it goes on ebay then ? Proceeds to his cancer charity by all accounts.
Au contraire. I made mention of him. Had a great game against Fulham; pushed on with more effect than I've seen from him in any other game. As for his defence... yes, he made a mistake in the ManU game, but his defensive errors have been few and far between this season. To suggest he should be dropped is absurd.
Systems, shmystems... the bottom line is that he's hit much better form so far this season than any of Spurs' expensive foreign imports, and their team has hardly set the Prem alight. I also think the immobility thing is overplayed a bit. He's put himself about in every game he's played so far. Granted, as a big bloke he's never going to whizz around like a Steven Quinn or a George Boyd, but I think the fact that he's 6,2" and 14-odd stone makes him look a bit more cumbersome than he actually is. I'd wager that he's at least as quick around the park as Meyler.
Alan Sugar tweeted Saturday night, that he couldn't understand Spurs selling him, as he was far better then anything they have at the club.
Farve Larve has just tweeted that tonight's topic for discussion is 'should Tom be in the England World Cup squad?'
