Just now, talking with 'Adey', a slightly frustrated QPR fan. Is there any other sort? Two things. 1) SWP is ill with a virus. He had seen him today and not at all well so that explains that mystery. 2) I am not sure if he let something slip but he said, while discussing the striker situation, "you will get a boost soon". Now I could easily be reading way more in to what he said than was intended but it sounded to me like there is a done deal for a striker waiting to be announced. Did anyone else hear it? He also advised Adey to relax, have a coffee and appreciate we are only five points off top. Probably very good advice!
Only someone who doesn't watch us would say don't worry about it. He probably thinks everything will be OK when SWP comes back to save us or maybe BWP is the signing!
Or someone who knows there is a partial fix on the way? We are in danger of developing the same sort of attitude of 'right' that we had at the start of the 1st season in the PL. That led to accusations of arrogance from other fans and a huge slice of humble pie for QPR and all it's fans! Over the closed season last summer I cannot recall anyone stating we would walk this league - quite the converse in fact. We all agree we are not doing well enough and the table does not lie. I happen to believe TF & Co will fix this over the next four weeks or so since they remain as ambitious as ever for QPR, especially after the new stadium announcement. Even if they do fix the striker problem, we may not go up this year. There were plenty of people who stated they would be ok with that if it meant consolidating and fashioning a team that might stand a better chance in the PL next time. Personally I am prepared to be patient and see what emerges over the newt few weeks even if it is 'only' Austin returning to fitness. It is way too early to be crying into our beer just now.
We certainly need another striker and I hope at the start of the transfer window rather than the eleventh hour. All things considered, I think a good point today, important to avoid three defeats on the trot, and hopefully we can return to winning ways home to Doncaster on Wednesday. As we move into 2014 I think we can be fairly satisfied on how the season has gone so far.
Boost? Perhaps it was a reference to the chocolate bar? 1 point off automatic and the possibility of reinforcements in January. We've been poor recently but perhaps this is our blip and other sides, namely Leicester and Derby, will have theirs in the New Year.
