There's half a season left. A lot can change. Form. Injuries. Opinions. If Tom keeps the form going and stays fit, he'll be there.
If Cleverley gets picked in front of Thudd it'll be a joke. The heat and humidity in Brazil will mean the games are played at a slow tiempo and that won't suit most of the England players. Players like Cleverley will be ball bagged after 20 minutes, running around like headless chickens. Larkers who can conserve energy and use the ball to do the work are what's required and is there a better Englishman in the PL than our Tom?
Thudd is the closest thing England have to Pirlo, and Pirlo will be there for certain. He might even be captain for Italy.
To be fair, that article is only talking about young players, Thudd is only 27. If he plays like yesterday for the rest of the season then there's no way he'll be left out.
Thing is, Woy has been staying virtually all season that he pretty much knows his squad, bar one or two. Basically he's saying it doesn't matter what happens at all season. That's just crazy talk.
Huddlestone is better than Cleverley. TC has "better players" around him and in a team which should dominate games and he doesn't stand out enough. TH has great presence, a better passer, better vision and will score goals now too. No brainer, as it is a no-hairer
Cleverley will be lucky to make the Man U bench after January. Fellani will be back and Moyes will buy a creative mid-fielder from Europe. Huddleston needs to avoid injury and play as he has done all season and Roy will take him to Brasil.
I spoke with Woy in a Copacabana Hotel this summer and advised him to start getting some City larkers in his squad, to which he very charitably (given my impertinence) responded "Oh, have they got any English ones then?" Splendid fellow. Lallana and Barkley appear to be Tom's rivals.
If you compare apples with apples, then if Roy was thinking about Carrick then he should consider Huddlestone as an alternative based on form when he picks his squad. Lallana and Barkley are more forward thinking, high energy players who are likely to be on the end of something. I'd say Tom is more in the Wilshire, Gerrard, Carrick group, who would be picked to control a game and it's tempo. As for Ravel Morrison, I cannot understand the cult that surrounds him that makes him a player to be even considered at all.
Barkley is excellent but there should still be room for Huddlestone somewhere if he plays like he has been doing throughout this month.
