Dont think we became defensive by desire. Dont think Bruce or the players said lets give the ball away to West Brom so that we stay in our own half. The passing in the second half was atrocius lost count of the number of times we gave the ball away. Contrast (said this earlier) that with the Swansea away game. At Swansea in the second half we passed the ball really well to the extent that at one point the City Supporters were shouting OLE. Unfortunately the result was the same a draw. Either one or both could have been a win. I wonder what the difference was in each game re our passing. Luck, the opposition, combination of both? And yes why Figuueroa went right as opposed to left noone but he will know.
We will finish 15th. Don't worry, about a thing. Because every little things gonna be alright Have a great christmas everyone and may every day be a good one for you all..
We failed to stay up comfortably from a 9 point lead in our first season in the premier league. Still a lot to be done. I think mid 30s sounds about right for staying up. And that's definitely achievable. Just hope it doesn't go to April, because that's a heck of a fixture list at the back end of the season for us.
Top 9, bottom 11 Quite a big split in the division now 6 wins should see us home. 6 from 20 Where do we see these? Fulham (h) Norwich (a) Palace (a) Sunderland (a) Southampton (h) Cardiff (a) Newcastle (h) West Ham (a) West Brom (h) Stoke (a) Swansea (h) Fulham (a) Villa (a) Perm 6 from the above - there are plenty of opportunities left
Think we could win the next three of those, Fulham, Norwich and Palace. Sunderland at home might be trouble, but who knows. West Ham, West Brom, Stoke, and Fulham later on in the season are our other chances. Plus there's always the chance of an upset against one of the bigger teams at home.
23 points at the halfway stage, six wins in the bag. We are at the top of the relegation league which goes from 10th to 20th.
I can't quite figure out if the tightness at the bottom means the magic number will be lower or higher than 40 points. Normally by now, there's at least one team completely way off the mark below 10 points. But this year it's tighter and the teams currently at the bottom have a chance of battling it out. So no sure what it means. I know recently it went around 40 pt mark but I've always had 38 as a target (1pt/game). This is an excellent position we are in. Hope we reinforce in January just to see it through.
The second half of the season is a different kettle of fish to the first half, the teams at the lower end suffer the more pressure each game becomes a must win as you know the more you try the harder it is to perform. We as a team are in a similar position to Browns team 08/09 the difference his team shipped goals (20 at home at this stage). If we continue in the same vain it should be comfortable mid table 44 – 48 points. Relegated Sunderland 38 points C Palace 32 points Fulham 28 points
There's a natural feeling of caution in me, as we've seen before that wins in the 2nd half of a Premier League season can be hard (very hard) to come by. But we look much better this time, in all sorts of ways. I think 36 points or so is enough to stay up, there are a number of teams below us all on similar points, taking them off each other. It will be an even spread of points I think. If we do our business, and bring in a striker added to the returns of Brady & Aluko, then we have plenty of options and a number of players who will cause other teams difficulty. Our defence has been solid for a long time now. I think only more long term injuries will put us off track. 5 wins for sure will keep us up, I think.
Sure would have liked to had a point or two out of Norwich and Palace away. Sunderland is looking like a must win already.
