Not sure why most of you are giving Dai so much stick. He's asked a reasonable question. One or two gave reasonable answers but the others just attack him. Why not stick to the topic or just ignore him? Even some people are posting on here while claiming to have him on ignore. Very odd.

Anyway, to answer Dai's question, I think the next 4 games (3 league and one cup) will be tough and ML won't get the blame if we lose them. But if we do, we could find ourselves in the bottom 3, and what will Huw do then. I think that if we're in a relegation scrap, then Huw will sack ML or they will come to a mutual agreement.

While we can all agree (I hope) that ML was a great footballer, his manager stats are not that good are they. Take a look at them and imagine they were from a non-famous manager. Most would agree they were not up to much.

In his favour, he did help us win the League Cup. And we beat Chelsea over two legs. But that is the past. And we can't live in the past. Plenty of managers are great and then things go bad.

What would you all be saying if the managers name wasn't ML? I think most like having a top-name manager in charge more than they like winning. Any other manager would have got serious stick by now.

But having said all that, it could go either way. A few wins, and maybe even a win against one of the top teams coming up next month, and we may all wonder what the fuss was about. But a few loses and we could very easily be in the bottom three. That can often shatter confidence and be difficult to get out of. There are plenty of teams that are think are worse than us, but it's not always the ones that seem to be the worst that go down.

But is it the fault of ML or the players? Probably both. If the players aren't performing, then of course they should take at least some of the blame. But isn't it the manager's job to get them playing? If he can't, then what's the point in having a manager. Something has to give soon if things don't pick up. I'd rather we were well away from the bottom three, not scrapping it out in the last few games. I fear that we'd never get back up if we went down. It's very tough in the Championship.

I'll probably get shot down like Dai, but why are so many so scared to just answer the question instead of getting personal. If you don't like Dai, then ignore him. If you're too frightened to answer, then don't. Stop derailing threads will the constant anti-Dai remarks. It's a football forum, so why not discuss football?

Someone mentioned that the compensation for sacking ML would be too much. But isn't his contract up at the end of the season? So not much compo.

I wonder if we can temp Roberto or Brendan back? No hope really, but either could sort this mess out.

Maybe we'll pick up a bit after we've been dumped out of Europa League next round. We can do without that distraction at the moment. Apart from the first game, the others were a bit of a disaster.

....and why does plasticfan sound exactly like Norway? Supposedly new to the forum yet dictates on how we should deal with the biggest wum we have here. I don't think so.

I'm not dictating at all, or even attempting to. Just think it would be more fun to talk football.

I sound like a country? Not sure what that means.

Nah - changed my mind after seeing your other posts - Dragon. Must be killing you not using those smileys. I'm also pretty sure you've got TOR running so the mods can't trace your IP. You've told us before you use it all the time. So that's Dragon, Jacksparrow and now Plasticfan. Oh dear.

If you're implying that I'm dragon, then I'm not. You are laughable. I'll ignore all your replies from now on, as you seem to want to have a go at me for some reason. Not interested, so run along and pick on someone else there's a good little boy. You won't get anything from me.

Given that most people expect ML to leave in the Summer, I can't imagine him wanting to leave as the Manager of a relegated team. Wouldn't be much of a queue of top clubs chasing his services......

As such, I expect him to get his act together and ensure we secure PL football for next season. We have 6 matches at home against teams currently below us in the table - surely enough of an opportunity to stay away from the drop zone at the end of the season?

I am at a loss why the odd couple of posters seem to fel that under BR we would be doing any better. The main complaint being that we have loads of possession but are unable to finish. That was the exact same complaint being levied towards BR when he was in charge by posters on this site. In fact most pundits and posters alike would point out how our passing stats as good as they were was down to the ball being played mainly in our own half/first quarter of the pitch (side to side with no penetration is one quote that comes to mind). So to me not a lot has changed except that at least our passing style now is more forward and attacking than before.
Yes I am frustrated with our inconsistency but we always knew that this season was probably going to be our toughest due to the extra games and smaller squad. This season the league is a lot closer at the top and at the bottom and lets be honest we are always going to be a team scrapping for mid table position. The fact that we are doing better than Newcastle last year reminds me that things aren't so bad. No manager is perfect (well not ones that we can attract anyway) and despite our acheivements last season people are right we cant live on past glories when "bigging up ML", however what we can say is that despite everything we are in a similar postion points wise than we were last season and in the last 32 of Europa league. I know we had 4 points more but the difference between the bottom half of the table from 10th down is a lot closer this season and therefore points are being shared a lot more leading to a more competitive season this year. All this leads to me believing that we are stronger and doing better in a league that is tougher. So when should we sack ML? For what its worth never irrespective of where we finish he will be going at the end of the season of that we cant control, personally I hope he doesnt as from what I have seen of other teams/managers below us he seems to be doing a lot better than them. Ask yourself one thing would you rather be us with ML or any other team from 12th down with their manager and style of play?
As a side note even if we do lose the next 3 games (which is very realistic), the bottom 4 teams will have to win 2 out of their 3 next games, taking into consideration that out of their next 3 games 2 of those are against other teams that are below us (if not in the bottom 4) there will still be 5 teams on the same or less points than us. We then have Fulham, West Ham, Cardiff and Stoke. Whilst the current bottom 3 then have a run llike our next 3. So all being well the points difference will be back to where it is now.
