That foul on Haidara brought back memories of McManaman's tackle on him at Wigan.

A straight red in my opinion.

 

I thought the ref was poor but that's not to say that all his decisions were wrong. Whelan put himself in the position of being sent off regardless of what our individual views are. Mine, given that it was approaching half time a stern word might have been more appropriate given the soft first yellow, although technically correct. A ref must protect all players and 'should' try and keep all XI on the pitch but I admit that this open to debate.

Wilson was a fool and should understand that it is better to concede and stay on the pitch than be down to 9 men. I think it would have been a good game XI v XI but it wasn't to be - we move on.
