Looks like Liverpool are shown interest in Shawcross again. With a possible swap of players from either Tottenham or The Scouse would Pulis/Coates even entertain this?

For the club I'd hate to see him go but for the player himself it may at least up his chances of not being overlooked for the England Jersey.

Hopefully we'll keep him for a good while yet!

Apparently Sky Sports News reported this morning that Bolton have bid £8m for Jerome!! The world has gone mad, he's barely worth half that in my opinion.

In other news, Coates says that Ryan isn't for sale.

    http://www.thisisstaffordshire.co.u...ke-chairman/story-12760530-detail/story.html?

STOKE City chairman Peter Coates has dismissed speculation that Ryan Shawcross will leave the club this summer.

The 23-year-old central defender has been linked with a move to Tottenham, possibly as part of swap deal involving Spurs midfielder Wilson Palacios.

However, Coates says he expects Shawcross to still be a Stoke player next season ... no matter what the transfer gossip columns say.

He said: "We see Ryan's future at Stoke City. He is a very good young player and I expect him to be at Stoke next season.

"I think with Ryan and Robert Huth we have two of the best centre-backs in the Premier League, and we don't want to change that."

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is looking for a centre-half after missing out on Blackburn's exciting 19-year-old prospect Phil Jones.

Shawcross, pictured below, was linked with Liverpool last season, but has shown no desire to leave the Britannia Stadium.

He was made Stoke captain at the start of last season, but appears to have fallen down the pecking order for his country.

He was called up by England coach Fabio Capello in February 2010 for the Wembley friendly with Egypt, but didn't play then and hasn't been named in a squad since.

Coates believes the centre-half, who is under contract until the summer of 2014, still has plenty of time to make an international impact.

He added: "I thought Ryan did very well last year and got better as the season went on.

"All young players have dips in form, but centre-back is a position where you are going to get better as you gain more experience. He is already doing fantastically."

Coates's comments confirm that the Potters aren't looking for replacements for Shawcross or player-of-the-season Huth this summer.

However, they have been linked with Reading centre-back Matthew Mills as a possible addition to the squad following Abdoulaye Faye's departure form the Britannia Stadium on a free transfer.

The 24-year-old Mills, who is Reading's captain, is in the final year of his contract and is being linked with Stoke, Wolves and Blackburn in a £3m move.

Stoke have done business with Reading in the past, having signed Dave Kitson and Ibrahima Sonko from the Royals three years ago following their promotion to the Premier League.

There was speculation yesterday that Faye could be about to rejoin his old boss Sam Allardyce at West Ham.

The 33-year-old, who was release by Stoke last month, served under Allardyce at both Bolton and Newcastle.

Meanwhile, the Potters have signed Millwall central defender Immanuel Parry.

The 17-year-old will now join the Stoke City Academy as a second-year scholar.

We've been tentatively linked with a move for Vaughan, and he doesn't live far away either, so geographically it would be a good move, but I just get the feeling we won't be in for him. He'll go Baggies I reckon. Really good player in my opinion though, would've suited us, perfect for the cage.

David Vaughan has confirmed that he is leaving Blackpool after turning down their final contract offer.

The 28-year-old Wales international's contract is due to expire this month and he has now confirmed that he will not be staying with the club.

The central midfielder has been linked with the likes of Sunderlandand West Brom, as well as Scottish champions Rangers.
"It was a very good offer and it was a tough decision, but I just want to stay in the Premier League and test myself at the highest level," he told the club's website.

    Disappointment

"It was unfortunate that we couldn't quite stay up last season and that was a big disappointment.

"My three years at Blackpool have been great and I'd really like to thank the fans and the staff. The last couple of years have been brilliant and I leave with nothing but good memories.

"If it wasn't for Blackpool I may never have played in the Premier League, so I have a lot to thank the club and the manager for. He has changed things around and I'll always look back on my time with fond memories.

"It's a tough decision to move because my family are settled in the area, but hopefully things will work out well wherever we end up."

Not seen enough of Mills to have an opinion, but many rate him as someone who'd hold his own in the Premier League.

Not a surprise Abdy has gone there, Big Sam loves him, he's signed him 3 times now, by my count.

Reading boss Brian McDermott is hoping to keep his squad intact, and that includes retaining the services of Matt Mills.

The highly-rated centre-half is the latest Royals star to be linked with a summer switch away from the Madejski Stadium, following the club's defeat in the 2010/11 Championship play-off final to Swansea.

Wolves and Stoke are reported to be among those chasing the 24-year-old, with it felt that Mills is ready to make the step up into the Premier League.

McDermott is hoping he will stick with Reading, though, with it important for the club to fend off any approaches for their key men if they are to stage another promotion push next term.

    Grown

"He (Mills) wasn't in the team when I got the job. He has grown in the last year as a player and as a person," McDermott told the Bracknell Forest Post.

"I made him skipper and at centre-back we have some really good players. It is a good group here and the group is everything to me. We want to keep our best players.

"There will be interest in a lot of our players for sure. When it comes about and is concrete then clubs will speak.

"If something comes then we will make a decision on what's right for the club. From my point of view we want to keep this group together."

anytime I've seen Matt Mills he has looked good, but do we really need another centre-back? I suppose it wouldn't be a proper transfer window of Pulis didn't sign a defender, or a former Sunderland player. Speaking of Sunderland-

    http:/http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Sunderland-Stoke-transfer-news-Asamoah-Gyan-to-be-subject-10m-bid-by-Europa-League-bound-Potters-article747878.html

Stoke are ready to test Sunderland’s resolve to keep Asamoah Gyan – and launch a £10million bid.

The losing FA Cup finalists are giving boss Tony Pulis cash for a top-class signing and can offer the Ghanaian goalscorer big wages and a crack at European football next season.

Stoke have been alerted by an e-mail from a North East agent that big-money Gyan was available and they will make an offer to see how much he will cost.

Gyan has been linked with several clubs at home and abroad in recent months. But Stoke have the cash clout - and also took Kenwyne Jones from Sunderland when their money talked last summer.

Sunderland supemo Niall Quinn tried to distance himself from the e-mail, pointing the finger at the agent involved and claiming that he was working without the club’s permission.

MirrorSport has confirmed with several clubs that the e-mail was sent and includes Gyan’s name among a dozen or more others, many of these ‘for sale’ without their knowledge.

As one respected official said: “Clubs often do this, using agents to test the water. It gives them deniability. But it is very unusual when it comes to us in writing.”

Gyan only joined Steve Bruce’s club a year ago in a major move from French side Rennes and his form has blown hot and cold since.

Skysports.com understands that West Bromwich Albion have launched a bid for Ghana midfielder Derek Boateng.

The Baggies are looking to bolster their midfield ranks and have now made a move for the talented 28-year-old, who is currently with Getafe.

Boateng previously saw a move to England collapse almost a decade ago when Steve McClaren tried to sign him at Middlesbrough, but he could not gain a work permit.

Now he is a fully fledged Ghana international and a permit would no longer be an issue.

Ukrainian outfit FC Dnipro have also launched a bid and appeared on course to land him, but there has now been late interest from England which could scupper their hopes.

"Derek is obviously flattered by the interest in England," his British representative Chris Nathaniel confirmed to skysports.com

"He knows the interest is strong and we are aware that at least one bid has been made for him."

West Brom are not the only side to be planning a move for Boateng.

Skysports.com understands that both Sunderland and Stoke are considering bids.
Aston Villa were also previously interested, but given their current managerial situation, it is unclear if they would be tempted into a move.

Viera is a free agent, but the wages would be way too much.

I'm not being funny but I really wouldn't want Vieira anymore, he is too old and slow. I can remember (either last season or season before) when we played Man City, Delap beating Vieira for pace to the ball. No offence to Rory but if you get outrun by Rory then it's a sure sign you're a slow player.

Good news. Hope he gets a Championship club this coming season, to aid his development, we need to hone this lad's talent, he's got a lot of ability.

Skysports.com understands a host of clubs are looking to sign Stoke youngster Ben Marshall on loan.

Marshall enjoyed a successful spell on loan at Carlisle last season, scoring five goals during his spell at Brunton Park.

The 19-year-old is highly-rated and Potters boss Tony Pulis sees him as a key part of his plans for the future.

Stoke are thought to be willing to loan out Marshall again next season and there is now a chase on his services.

Several Championship and League One clubs are thought to have enquired about Marshall's availability.

Stoke are now considering the offers that come in for the former Manchester United youngster as they look for the winger to continue the next stage in his development.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ool-Spurs-12m-Dann-bid.html?ito=feeds-newsxml

Stoke have made a club-record £12million bid for Birmingham centre half Scott Dann.
Liverpool and Tottenham are also considering offers for Dann, 24, after missing out to Manchester United in the race for Blackburn's Phil Jones.

Aston Villa could also enter the running if ex-Birmingham boss Alex McLeish becomes their manager.
But Stoke have made the first move for Dann, who has been widely expected to leave Birmingham since their relegation.
That bid for Dann will increase speculation over captain Ryan Shawcross's future at the Britannia Stadium.
Liverpool would be interested if Stoke indicate they will listen to offers for the £15m-rated defender.
Tottenham are also in the market for a centre back with Sebastien Bassong and Younes Kaboul set to leave White Hart Lane.

    http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...t-Dann-before-Alex-McLeish-gets-a-bid-in.html

STOKE will bid £12million for Birmingham's Scott Dann... before Alex McLeish can get an offer in.
Potters boss Tony Pulis is keen on the centre-back, 24, and is prepared to pay big money for him.
Stoke expect former Brum boss McLeish to try for Dann when he finally takes charge at Aston Villa.
Liverpool are also interested but boss Kenny Dalglish has slight concerns over Dann's pace.
But Birmingham need to cut costs after being relegated and Stoke hope to cash in on the turmoil at St Andrew's If Pulis lands his man Dann, it could clear the way for star defender Ryan Shawcross to move on to a bigger club before the start of the season.
