Thought he might have been at the time. Nobody near me really bothered, but replayed it when home. Think it was close. Wrights tackle was horrendous. Both feet off the ground and out of control is a solid red card.
Flags and banners look tremendous. Some of the YouTube footage of huge flag displays look brill. In this country the want everyone to sit on their hands and when their team scored simply say, quietly, Well played lads. Loved the admin game display.
You'll no say that when some six foot six nineteen stone polis kicks in yer door at three in the morning lol.
Watched highlights of the derby game in Belguim , Lierse down to 10 men on comes Tony Wattt they win 3-0 . Scores 2 both great finishes , Stokes would have been passing them back to the half way line
Sometimes I suspect that the natural instinct to take on the man and go for goal is coached out of youngsters in preference for passing the ball about. Recall the famous quote from Shanks. If you don't know what to do with the ball, son, just put it in the back of the net. Loved that one. Along with his observation on the changes to the offside rule. If a player isn't interfering with play, he shouldn't be on the park.
for me watt deserves a chance, at least a regular start until the end of the season ( making a massive presumption that he is only on loan till jan, far too lazy to look). all the reports are that he is a bit of a daft **** so i doubt he will never start another game under lennon.
Watt not the answer to Celtic's striker problem, insists Lennon as Bhoys boss targets forward in January window Neil Lennon on Friday night insisted he has no plans to cut short Tony Watt’s loan spell in Belgium. The striker came off the bench to score twice in Lierse’s 3-0 derby triumph over Mechelen on Boxing Day. Ironically, Watt’s brace saved the job of coach Stanley Menzo, a public and vocal critic of the Scot’s attitude, fitness and training. With Teemu Pukki, Anthony Stokes and Amido Balde failing to convince, Lennon is looking to spend on a new striker in the January window. Responding to suggestions Watt could save the Hoops’ boss cash by returning to Glasgow early, however, Lennon warned that’s not an option. He said: ‘I’ll speak to Tony over the next week or so, see how he is feeling and what the situation is. ‘But I’m not of a mind to bring him back just yet. We’ve loaned him for the year and I’d like him to see that one out. ‘We couldn’t put him out on loan anywhere else if he does come back, so that’s not crossed my mind.’ With the Belgian league entering a three-week winter break, Watt returned to Scotland yesterday and won’t rejoin Lierse until January 18. Sent out on loan after a famous goal against Barcelona failed to see him kick on at Celtic Park, the striker has been told to go out and grow up before thinking of resuming his career in Glasgow. ‘There’s an immaturity about Tony and the reason for putting him on loan was to see life at a different place,’ added Lennon. ‘We wanted him to sample a different culture and a different type of football. If it’s not going well, then he needs to knuckle down and make it work. The onus is on him. ‘I wasn’t aware of these problems [with Menzo] and I’ll need to speak to his agent over the next few days. ‘He can be a difficult boy at times but there’s no malice in him or anything like that. He just needs to knuckle down and make the most of the opportunity he has. When he’s finished, he will still be part of our plans for the future. ‘There’s no question that Tony has ability. He’s raw and just needs to polish it off a bit — and polish himself off as a fully-rounded figure. He definitely has ability. ‘He’s not a man yet. Some players take a bit longer to mature than others. Not physically, that’s in a mental aspect as well. But Tony is a good kid.’ Lennon is weighing up moves for Huddersfield striker James Vaughan and watched AZ’s American international Aron Johannsson and former target Alfred Finbogasson face off in the Dutch league last week. Watt plans talks with the Celtic boss, however, after coming off the bench at 0-0 to score a memorable derby double. ‘It all happened so quickly,’ said the forward. 'I go home to Scotland now and will visit my family and friends and, hopefully, I can go for 10 days or two weeks. ‘Lierse-verus-Mechelen is exceptional, it’s great. It’s one of the big games, one of the big derbies and before the match they put up the names of Manchester City, Manchester United and when I saw them put up Celtic-versus-Rangers I knew how much it meant to them here. Because to me, Celtic-versus-Rangers is the biggest derby of all. ‘I think I just had good timing today. The rest of the season has been quite sub-standard but my timing has been good.’ Current Celtic front man Anthony Stokes had some advice for Watt and was speaking from experience after being a hotheaded youngster in his early days. ‘He’s gone abroad and he’s trying to impress,’ Stokes said. ‘But he’s a young lad who is going to mature with age. It’s a natural thing. He just needs to get his head down. ‘We’ve all seen he has the quality and, hopefully, he will come back a better player for the experience of being over in Belgium. ‘I’m sure it can be hard going over to another culture. I’ve never been in that situation myself though. But it might be a good thing. ‘The way he was thrown into the limelight after scoring against Barcelona, there was probably a lot of pressure on him being 18 or 19. This might do him the world of good.’
I saw a bit of the game in the pub. Celtic's first was a cracker. What I liked best was once he'd earned his goal scoring position he didny take a blood rush to the brain and wallop it. Great goal. Dunno who he is.
