That chant is my enduring memory of yesterday afternoon as Adam Lallana took Cardiff to pieces. He was absolutely brilliant, a cut above anybody else on the pitch yet again. He has a class and a poise on the ball now that I haven't noticed within in the past. Yes, he could always turn a man and yes, he could always use both feet but the way he glides across the pitch with the ball completely under his spell was mesmerising. We must keep hold of him and England must start him!! He gives both sides an added dimension of flair which otherwise both teams lack
A player who has responded to Mauricio's regime. Some talented players survive on talent alone and don't work hard as they get by without it, but Lallana is being lifted to another level.
Think it's because he thinks we're making our players out to be better than they are. Bar Walcott and Lallana, what other good wingers do England have?!
England doesn't exactly have a surfeit of genuinely world class players. Gerrard and Lampard's best days are behind them. The same is true for Ashley Cole. It's time for the next generation to step up, and Adam is showing himself to be amongst the best ofv that generation. On the other hand though, bugger England, at least until the summer. Saints come first. With Shaw, Chambers, JWP and Lallana in the same team, the FA should be beating a path to our door to ask how the hell we keep doing it.
On current form its difficult to argue against this. Barkley has been great, Walcott is picking up goals and Henderson is having a purple patch but other than that I'm not aware of any English players consistently shining & putting in MOTM displays
I like Lallana a lot, but if the price is right, I'd let him go. We have lots of depth in that position, but maybe not enough quality. There's Davis, Rodriguez, Lambert, JWP, Lallana and Osvaldo you have to try and jam into four spots right now. Are any of them on the level of a Mata, Coutinho, Suarez, Hazard, etc.? at the "big" clubs? Ramirez was supposed to be that guy, but I guess he isn't. So we can sell him. But if we sell Ramirez and buy a studly AMC/winger/striker that is required, is there still room for Lallana in the starting XI? And, there's also Rowe and Gallagher coming up the ranks. I think that is an area where maybe we can cull some people and trade quantity for quality. And while Lallana isn't the guy I'd drop based on pure merit, if he's the guy we can the most money for, and quite possibly an overpay, I'd do it.
Rodriguez was clearly the best player on the pitch. It's fine having a favourite player but you've got to give other players credit if they play out of their skin. Rodriguez was brilliant yesterday. He got two goals, an assist and his defensive work rate was absolutely immense. He covered so much ground. It was the best performance I can remember by one of our attackers since we got promoted. He made five tackles and three defensive clearance on top of the goals and assist. It was a complete performance for Rodriguez. Yet you are saying Lallana was a cut above anybody else? No. It's not even a matter of opinion. You are completely wrong with that statement. I wonder if people like you support the Saints or just Adam Lallana.
Er.... you've just contradicted yourself. We haven't got enough quality in that position, so you would sell Lallana for the right price.
There's absolutely still room for him in the starting XI. If we buy a studly AMC/winger, the people most likely to be affected are Davis/JWP. If we buy a studly striker, the people most likely to be affected are Lambert/Osvaldo.
