Despite not being sure whether I have spelled his name correctly I have been keeping my concern quiet for a few weeks. Really concerned about him, 2 Man U goals came from him getting caught : on the wrong side of that diving t**t and being suckered into giving away a needless free kick stretching for an interception that I wouldn't have expected Roaringtiger to get caught with in the U13 league he plays very well in and effectively giving them a free cross resulting in Chester's own goal Lost his man a number of times, you could see why Man U concentrated on our left for attacking. Time to put Rosie in there - safe pair of hands. Would feel different if Figgy offered something attacking wise but he doesn't and too often caught in possession. Great performance by City today made me glow with pridde. Mike Oliver hasn't improved since WHL though - very poor standard of refereeing - he seemed to have a nervous twitch in that every time a white shirt went to ground he blew his whistle or waived advantage for a non-foul. Makes me mad that he cannot stand up to the top teams and is bullied the s**t out of by over paid prima donnas - he should have had his cards out for simulation loads of times today but chose to ignore it. Fulham on Saturday - looking forward to it. UTT
I agree with you on Figueroa. He has been the weak link the last two games. West Brom ran rings round him last week and all their attacks were going down his side. Today he gave away a needless free kick for their first goal and missed an interception for the cross that led to Chessies OG. Rossie represents a better option IMO. Oliver is a crap referee. Rooney got away with fouling and dissent all day. Great game though and Alex and Curtis were rocks.
I completely agree - except it wasn't a needless free-kick, he had to foul him as he'd been well and truly done. He had a really tough task with Valencia and the wonderkid Yanuzaj on his wing but he didn't take it well. I prefer Rosey on the right to the left - i know he did it in premiership years ago but not 100%. Missing an in-form Brady. Once Brady's genuinely fit, I'd play him regardless of form. Koren and Graham seem to get in regardless of form. On a side note: Competition for places in the centre back position is very very encouraging.
Needless if you aren't tight to your runner and on the right side of him. Therefore needless and what's more unnecessary if you are capable and competent . ThAt is my point.
I agree... sorry if my point didn't come across. I was just highlighting the fact he got done (which if, as you pointed out, was on the right side of him wouldn't have happened), whilst agreeing with your overall point.
People seemed to be touching themselves over him a few weeks ago but he's not really been any better than alright in my opinion. Today he was poor and I particularly agree with your point that if he offered something going forward it'd be okay but he doesn't. He never gets near the byline or puts crosses in like Brady and Elmo do.
Agree in the main on Figueroa; he started the season well but he's been poor over the last couple of games. I'd be hesitant about moving Rosey to left back however, although he's a solid set of hands I noticed when he played there at Newcastle that he's not comfortable using his left foot. Hopefully we'll have Brady back in January though, who'll be able to fill in at left wing back if Figueroa's form does not improve.
His knee swells up every time he plays, that's what the operation was supposed to fix. I think he'll need another op meaning another long layoff, and to be honest I wonder if his career might be in danger.
Didn't Bruce say at the start of December that Dudgeon's avoided needing another operation due to having an extended rest period and would hopefully be back in 2014? If not it's a shame, as Dudgeon looked to be a decent left back in his short stint in the team before his injury.
The bit about the op was just my opinion based on the fact I know which is that he hasn't responded to the previous op as hoped and he's still been swelling up after playing. I have no idea what the plan is with him long term but I wouldn't expect to see him back soon.
He looked pretty sprightly last Sunday in m&s near haltemprice beating the Xmas queues and heading off on his merc though....
I think this is an overreaction. Remember yesterday he is up against some of the best attacking players in the Premier League. His performances have not been as bad as some of the shockers that Elmo has had this season, but Elmo seems to have turned a corner in the past few games. I'm not sure Rosie is the solution either. He's reliable as a backup for Elmo but he seems out of position when covering the left back role. Yes Figgie doesn't do the wing-back role as good as Elmo and Brady but he is a far more reliable defender than those two.
