So Madrid or City basically then could afford him, I'd rule Chelsea out as we have pulled their pants down with Torres http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/luis-suarezs-liverpool-release-clause-2958816 If this is true then ****ing well played LFC ------ Article: Spanish giants Real Madrid - the only likely movers for Suarez in the next few years - would have to top the sum they paid for Gareth Bale Luis Suarez: No one will be getting him for less than £100m Luis Suarez: No one will be getting him for less than £100m Getty Luis Suarez has two staggering price tag clauses in his new £10million-a-year Liverpool contract. Super striker Suarez will cost a world record £100m if a foreign club comes in for him. And the fee is an even bigger £130m if a Premier League rival tries to tempt him from the Kop. Those two numbers should price Suarez out of a move from Anfield or even stop a repeat of the transfer talk last summer. Top scorer Suarez had a £40m price tag in his previous deal although that did not prove any use when Arsenal came calling - and offered £1 more. Suarez and his advisers wanted a ‘sale’ fee inserted in his new bumper five-year contract but the numbers are so high that they virtually take him off the market. Spanish giants Real Madrid - the only likely movers for Suarez in the next few years - would have to top the sum they paid for Gareth Bale. That transfer could happen down the line, but if it does Liverpool will collect even more than Tottenham did. But the two-tier valuation means that Suarez is unlikely to ever be sold to an English club directly from Liverpool. That is a weight off the minds of the fans who have backed Suarez despite his problems earlier in the year. The figures make sound financial sense to all parties and - along with his pay hike - it is a package that has everyone happy. Merry Christmas shamones
Yeah dont think Suarez wouldve gone for this if im completely honest unless a not getting cl reduces said sums?
The clause does ****all other than put us in control whilst he remains under contract. A release does not mean the player can ONLY leave if that fee is realised. A deal could be reached at a lower level but would require Liverpool's agreement. IMO, it changes nothing.
This clause makes no sense for Suarez unless there's a 'no CL' get out. Either that or the mirror are talking chit (highly likely). After all his talk about wanting to play CL, you really think he'd sign a new contract that essentially makes him unsellable to everyone?
seen that thrown around a few places Doc is funny how all the dif media interpret the same info, one goes with we are in a good position and call the shots etc over price, another goes with cl or bust for us or we lose him, ffs lol.
It matters not what some of the media think or even think they know. The real issue is what Suarez and his agent and LFC believe they have agreed upon. This series of re-negotiations will have defined for both of them more clearly where they stand, what they are both getting from the deal and what is expected of them. At the end of the day if THEY are happy with that then it matters not what anybody-else thinks.
Agree mostly. Also it is clear that unless Liverpool gets CL football (which is still in the balance) Suarez will agitate to go to Real. Maybe even with.
sm1thy, Happy Christmas but please read what I wrote as it has nothing to do with your second statement.
I'm very disappointed with this thread. I tought Santa Clause was kidnapped and DR was being a hero demanding for his release.
There will be a second set of non champions leauge clauses I am sure, and these won't be too shoddy either
