I've mentioned before that it's very hard to get an entire end of a ground singing a fastish paced song together as you have to cope with the speed of sound. By the time the sound has travelled from one side of the Northam to the other and the same beat has made its way back, it's likely to be out of kilter, which is a very effective way of stopping people singing. It's why you get the same song on three different timings. That's why the slow "When the Saints..." is so effective; the timing doesn't matter as much, so everyone can sing along. Similarly "You'll never walk alone" works well at Anfield, as it's slow. As for the Whittingham Pottechino (sic) song, I hate, hate, hate it. Then again, I hate any song that mentions Portsmouth. We should sing about our own club. The obsession with Portsmouth is even more embarrassing at away games. Vin
I think there is an element of... "I'm going to sit over there because the atmosphere is good." Then when they move there they don't actually join in. Where I sit the people to the right don't ever sing, and the ones in front don't either. The guy behind sings loudly but smells a bit funny
..... This being? Are the Northam now in trouble for actually singing? Should they sing or not im confused
Well its probably got to the stage that even silence is a preference to many of the cringeworthy **** songs they do sing.
Absolutely agree. "We are the Pompey... HATERS!" is among the worst - we're not, we're Southampton supporters. The Whittingham one is even more terrible now, but at least it doesn't get an outing fifty times a game.
I think you've got the wrong bloke: Jingle Bells, Batman smells Robin laid an egg. The Batmobile lost a wheel and the Joker got away (Hey!) For you're information I use plenty of Old Spice I had some for this Christmas.
Singing warms you up. Fans are not exactly on an open terrace these days either. Personally, I think the ratio of fans inside St Mary's that will never sing, compared to will sing sometimes and those who will sing always... has swung this season into the majority who will never sing. That maybe the "Premiership effect" of the demographic change attracting "plastics"... but even then, I expect at least half of the Northam are season ticket holders for a few seasons at least??
I don't really give a **** tbh. It's the same old bitching every time we lose. Yes I get you are annoyed etc but come on it must get boring being a moany bastard all the time.
What bitching am I doing then? Posted a thread about Poch's record in charge after being a year in charge. Posted a ratings thread, which others do after every game. Posted my opinions on Gaston etc. I'd say it's YOU who has the problem not being able to either take other people's views on board, or being able to ignore them if you "don't give a ****". It's a football forum, duh.
