    Those first four or five months of David Ginola in a Newcastle shirt were arguably the greatest by a United player in many a year.

    The ball appeared to be stuck to his foot as David Ginola mesmerised both Newcastle fans and the opposition players with his unbelievable dribbling skills.

    It wasn’t that he was rubbish after that initial half season but it was only on occasion that he reached those heights again after he got kicked off the pitch at Highbury before eventually retaliating and was instantly dismissed.

    Daveed has now been interviewed by BT Sport about his time at Newcastle and while his departure from Dalglish’s NUFC wasn’t the smoothest, it is clear it was also a special time for Ginola as well on Tyneside;

    “I moved from romantic Paris to Newcastle, where the people work hard and play hard.

    “We went for a day out in Whitley Bay but I couldn’t put one foot in the water, it was so cold.

    “We spent two years and it was fantastic, playing great football and scoring goals for fun.

    “The people were so pleased and so happy to have a good team at Newcastle – they were so passionate.

    “When people in Newcastle give you their friendship it is forever.”

    "I also think Obertan looks like an Alien from the planet Zarg'.

    Good old days indeed.

    Really liked Ginola, on and off the pitch.

    As it's Christmas mate, I'm gonna drop the odd bit of tomfoolery into some of the quotes I post... just to see who can spot them.
    I used to doctor Pardew quotes no end to include things like 'In terms of strategy.. I think Tash should give his wrist a rest' etc... always made me chuckle to myself.

    Big Al got injured just after we sold Sir Les if I remember rightly.

    That cost cutting exercise that saw him and Big Les leave was devastating. KD took all the flak but it was obvious it came from above.

    Ginola was just a splendid watch. Cross and shoot with either peg, dribble, skills, a penchant for the ridiculous (Ferenvacos). He was actually every bit the modern day footballer before that time. For someone so gifted he was a brute of a man. Powerful and stood 6ft 1. He was quick, particularly when travelling with the ball. I think his biggest attribute was that two footed ability though. A full backs nightmare when running at you becaus ehe could go either way and deliver a killer ball.

    I hated spurs that year
