Well yes, but that doesn't happen anywhere in football where the whole ground sings almost continuously the entire game. It's why there always has been sections containing those who want to sing, with ours mostly in the Northam. If you select to be in that area of the ground, you know why you are there. Therefore, the responsibility is inherent to get behind the team, not just when we are winning. I know some loathe fans groups like the Crystal Palace Fanatics (or Ultras) and I personally find them to be a bit naff... but on the other hand, they do co-ordinate things and turned Selhurst Park from a dull ground to one with a good atmosphere now. Not sure Saints need a group like that, but the fans in the Northam need to up their game. The lack of original songs is not just a saints problem, but ours are pretty crap and they really don't need anymore references to Pompey in them. I know I take the piss out of Pompey on here, but when I'm at a Saints game they don't even enter my thoughts. Also doesn't help the buildup to the atmosphere when a good chunk of the Northam turn up just on or just after kickoff.
We all know he's suspect, but what was the point in that? If that's what they call supporting the team they would be better off being quiet.
Sorry, but you are totally and utterly incorrect. There have been several games recently when the atmosphere has been utterly, truly outstanding. Agree about today but, as ever, for you the world is black or white, so the words "every week" pop up. It's just not true. Vin

So, its all the fans fault is it. Surely the team should be entertaining and inspiring us not the other way round. Fans do not have a responsibility to make a lot of noise and be supportive of the team. However, it obviously helps when they/we do.
I sat in the Kinglsand North and you can't hear anything from the Itchen or even the Kingsland fans. Don't know whether that's acoustics or they just don't sing, but I don't see why the Northam should be expected to make enough noise for both of them. If you don't want to sing, sit in the Chapel. They're allowed to be quiet apparently.
I think the atmosphere vs City was good no matter where you were sitting. What are we singing now? Is it "You sacked Whittingham, we signed Port aux chino?"
Well I guess if you have had a pop at the players and the manager and the fans, that only leaves a "the ref was crap" thread? I might be disappointed with the fan's reaction sometimes-booing our own players or abusing the ref doesn't seem likely to improve the performance of either- but I don't expect the Northam to sing regardless of what's happening on the pitch. It's great when they do, but atmosphere is created by periods of pressure, more than by fans singing. Then again, I am in the Chapel so probably don't count as a real fan to some.
half of the people chanting don't know the lyrics or lose time anyway, im pretty much bang centre of the Northam and sometimes you get a choice of 3 timings of a single chant. and not to mention every week we fail hard at oh when the saints. but the worst atm is 'we sign whittingham, we sign pochettino'. saying that, i find it pretty hard to proper get in to the chanting mood after giving goals to the opponent, up til 3-2 we were pretty alright.
Not prepared to criticise the Northam as at least they try. I'm more inclined to blame some of the players than a bunch of supporters.
:S ... You make some valid points but also some ridiculous ones! Every fan has a right to sing or not to sing. You state it is Northam fans 'responisibility' to get behind the team! Really? No, it is every single individuals responsibility to do this surely! You state a good chunk of Northam fans turn up as the games kicking off? And? I see many many MANY fans in other sections not only just turning up the same time as others, but in fact, leaving well before any fans in the Northam. Its just how it is. I just find it a little immature to be labelling fans because of a stand they choose to sit in. Northam fans get grief if they speak up about other sections? I agree, They can contain some very arrogant individuals but tell me, 30+k off mainly male football fans.... hardly going to all be perfect haha. The atmosphere can be drab sometimes and can be excellent sometimes. The weather was shi*e and being an early kickoff peoples routine travel is disrupted etc. The time of year means people are often doing other thuings before or after games and many possibly on a hang from the night before or stressed from the seasonal fuss. The performance on the pitch goes a long way to keeping the fans behind them but we are only human. We are as fickle as the next set of fans. I recal hearing the Northam singing loud and proud after the first 2 spurs goals and lets be fair, after a 3rd comical goal conceded it was a little deflating. Thats a fact. Itchen support has become far less vocal as has the Kingsland corner. And as for Chapel, lets not even go there. But do i care? Do most care? No! Everyone can do as they please and having visited many away grounds and even sitting in the home ends at old trafford and stamford bridhe the last few seasons, i can galdly say our fans most certainly have some class banter and witty songs. Merry Christmas to you all And CBK, do us proud at Cardiff Away wont you? I assume you are going...... COYR's
