First of all can I wish you all a merry christmas.

Second, I wanna say that the man deserves a lot of credit for his recent form and coincidentally our run of results. Quite simply he has been epic of late and I struggle to see how we could drop him right now. He split his head open putting his body on the line against CP. He was solid as usual and he always gives 100%.

The credit of late has been going to Cabaye (sexy mutherfucker) and others but for me the recent upturn in results has been because of his inclusion.

    CREDIT GIVEN WHEN CREDIT DUE.

But..... In all seriousness..... would he get into the England squad. Please someone tell me a CB playing as well or even better than him right now!

    OVER TO YOU!

A much improved player that's been putting his heart on the line and putting in some great performances. I'd like to see him get some recognition for his hard work but I'm afraid he may not be seen as fashionable enough to play for England.

The guys dan Saf won't have seen him play before.

A few months ago he didn't seem good enough to be our 4th choice CB.

He has had a great season so far and has been solid and reliable, rightly keeping MYM & Saylor out of the team now both are fit.

BUT, ..... England? Sorry, no chance.

Despite Englands obvious weakness at centre back, Willo won't be getting a look in.

I dont know if CB really is a weak spot for England. We were fairly spoilt for a number of years but I think Jag and Cahill are a decent partnership. I love willo but he is no international CB. There is a clear difference in quality between him and Colo for instance. I just think he would need to have a bit more quality on the ball to make it.

I know, I deeply know this. But In all honesty I actually do believe that our run of form and defense quality (swansea aside) has been because our back four have been solid.

I would finally know all hope was lost with England if Willo was selected.

Williamson is playing out of his skin just now and fair play to him.

He deserves his run in the side but i've a feeling it won't be long before his form dips again and Steven Taylor is pushing hard for his place.

England? There are too many in front of him... quite rightly in my opinion.

As I have said I dont think heis england but I think all thosr 'crap' seasons is harsh. Personally I think he has always done alright for us as a back up. He just happend to fall on his arse a few times which was not exactly a good look. Big up to him fot turning that rep around.

Agree that crap seasons is harsh.
Too many people forget he was a mainstay of the defence for much of the season when we finished fifth and lets face it nobody exactly covered themselves in glory last season.
Just not good enough for England.

To be honest , it's the back five. If you include Tiote, you can even claim the back six.

Those two lads are decent defenders. To be a top international team you need world class centre backs. We have been spoilt down the years and have produced some cracking centre backs. Sol Campbell, Rio Ferdinand, John Terry (at his peak anyway), Tony Adams (despite being much maligned at times). We have nothing of that class now. We are just in one of those periods where we lack that bit of class. A really top class 'stopper' and a top class 'sweeper' type to balance it. I still think young Jones has a bit of the X factor about him. However too much is expected of him and if we are not careful we'll ruin him. Centre backs start to take shape at about 25. Rio was error strewn in his younger years, Adams was, Campbell had his issues, Terry did. Patience is the key just like with goalkeepers. These are positions that lend themselves to experience, learning from mistakes.

I always think it's ludicrous how much the impact of a full back is overlooked when the defense is concerned. The overall displays of Debuchy have had a huge impact on the defensive unit and Willo has benefited greatly from having so many outlets for his limited abilities - Debuchy is always available, Moussa down the right adds a lot more options and the fact all of our CM's drop deep helps him out a great deal.

I love his application and his never-say-die attitude is excellent. He has contributed to our success. But I would argue that those around him have helped hugely any defend-first player and Steven Taylor, had he been fit, would have benefited just as much.

OK, you've convinced me - it IS Willo's time for England duty! <whistle>
