Morning Everyone, Looking back at Saturdays game, it was a scrappy affair, but derbies tend to be. I know Pugh is playing well, but surely when we are shedding out £12-£15,000 a week for Warnock to warm the bench, something somewhere must be wrong. Has Warnock fallen out with the gaffer? Is Pugh playing better then him? What about Byram? Are we saving him for the second half of the season, or is he still carrying an injury? The forwards has 'one of those games on Saturday'. The ball would just not fall for them, but it has lifted us to 5th place. If we can win our Christmas games, and put pressure on the top four, you just never know!!! I finished my Christmas shopping on Sunday (phew), but I'm sure there are a few of you (you know who you are) that maybe have not started it yet. We want to hear from you all, about your Christmas shopping experiences, good and bad. Have you ever left things to the last day? Have you ever forgotten a present, and had to make a last gasp bid for the shops, we want to hear about it. There will be a morning thread every day this week.... Does anyone want to put a Christmas greetings thread on?
Morning all and fooking hate Xmas as I'm flat out like a lizard trying to service 700 stores, with volumes double what they normally are and its been going on for 8 solid days so far. Saturday was a match we really needed to win if we are to stay in the frame. Loads of chances and we couldn't put one away and we needed the extra 2-points to stay close to Derby. The top 4 now have created a gap between 4 5 and 6 because Derby are still getting 3-points every game. Luck for us Reading and a few more results went in our favour because usually we would have dropped out of the top 6 after a draw. Come on lads give us maximum points into next year please.
Blimey Doc, what do you do (for a living?) Yeah, disappointing result, but it will be a big physiological advantage if we can go into 2014 in 5th place. Morning btw
Morning all ... agree that the draw was disappointing, but at least we are just eight points off automatic ... next two we have to get a minimum of four points to stay in the frame ... pressure for wins will be on now, so can't afford flat performances when chasing, have to keep the gap close ... another 30k at the game just awesome, expect the vibe and a new manager lifted Barnsley and gave them the determination to battle for the draw ... team isn't getting battered at the minute so can't really advocate for change, so when the likes of Byram and Warnock do get back in then they will have to play their best to stay in ... it is great to be able to have quality players on the bench now, and if we can add three more in January we will be very well placed for a serious promotion push ... Derby are motoring but their squad is thin, and if they don't strengthen in January they will be in danger of dropping away, will need a lot of luck to keep their starting eleven intact ... this campaign is going to be tough, teams are sticking around and there's always the late runner coming off the bend to upset the top six and boot one of the ever presents out ... at least we are not losing like we did in the past, and there will be days like Saturday where no matter what we try it just doesn't go our way, but then so long as we at least get a point then its still positive ... so for me Saturday wasn't great, but its another point on the board and we moved up a place. MOT with Brian McD!!
Derby on present form would be top of the league over the last 8 games and don't seem to be worrying too much. Even Saturday they didn't play well but another convincing win over another fancied side. Burnley and the foxes as well as QPR are all in the frame for auto now and even when they do have a blip they pick it up again fast. We may not be getting battered but we're still lacking consistency which is costing us and will cost us going forward unless we can sort it. We have been 9-points off the top for weeks now and dont seem to be able to get closer, whereas Derby are are doing it fast. 6-points from us to Derby who are just above us tells the story I'm afraid.
Morning all. Last day at work for me then xmas hols. Not at all worried about the others form at the moment. Hoping we do better than we usually do at xmas and second half of season. No doubt we will though as first time in a decade well be strengthening rather than weakening. Glory and myself were busy yesterday helping save malcay makays job at Cardiff. They're ungrateful bar stewards though. Working hard to ensure Lomas is kept on at wallyland, hopefully might even secure him an extended contract along the way.
Morning, I think Byram is still struggling with his hip. That's why Brian had to go with pelts to start. He brought on Sam at half time as he realised that we needed something extra. Problem is currently Sam is not it. I think we need to end him for the op and be resigned to losing him for another few months as I worry he might not get back to his best if he struggles with the problem any longer..
All done with shopping. Lets have a CHRISTMAS SONG TO GET IN THE MOOD.
Reading have just said that they will be spending to get promotion, so as they didn't spend big whilst in the prem they missed out on the multi-billion tv deal but have £60m in parachute payments to come. So could be out of our league. QPR will carry on buying their way up but what about the foxes who have spent a fortune over the last couple of seasons, will they go again. What about Derby will they back the new manager to get promotion? wonder if Burnley will give Dyche money. These teams are already strong and if they invest heavily it will make it almost impossible for us, unless we can buy smart and go on one hell of a winning run.
Morning all. Life, the Pogues thingy won't play. Elland, as Pugh has done little wrong, Warnock will have to wait his turn. Shows how much we've improved that both Warnock and Byram will have to wait rather than just walk straight back into the team.
Guys, my glass is more than half full at the moment. No fear of relegation for me, and will be happy - in fact delighted - if we manage to make the top 6 at the end of the season. Promotion would be brilliant, but I really would settle for top 6 without promotion. At the start of the season, although making confident noises, I privtely thought we might struggle to make top 10, and the relegation word gave me shivers. Things are really looking good atm, but I refuse to let myself get carried away. It's going to be a good Xmas!
Said all along 10-12 finish is what this squad looks like getting but you never know 3 quality players could take us up
sorry m8 works on mine.Try this one.
Evening all A point's a point and we're fifth so was happy this weekend however a win against Barnsley would have been nice just to rub it in to my mates face when I see him in the New Year. Got my Xmas Shopping done a couple of weeks ago. Went food shopping in Asda yesterday to help out my best mate and I wanted to hide in the corner it was that crazy. I do how ever have to pick up one more present for my daughter tomorrow. I really don't want to head in to town but needs must. Chesh that a terrible terrible terrible song. Shame on you for posting twice. TBH I hate all Christmas songs
