What would the 'committee' say about you bringing leaves in from West Yorkk?

    There'd be hell on.

The 'committee' are a set of ****s, Carmine. I'm already getting snide comments about the size of my shed and my use of pesticides. What's the point in being organic and letting bugs eat my cauliflowers ? All that hard work for nothing.

I've told em, mess with me and i'll napalm the whole site...

I certainly know nowt about estates, the mondeo estate may well be the exception to the rule. No denying ford build utter ****e. Complete and utter ****e. So many niggling faults their cars have, nothing major but things like cup holders always breaking, bonnet catches sticking, door catches jamming, electrics stopping working (dash dials are notorious for it in all fords).

Its all well and good top gear voting it the best, they have it for a day, not over a prolonged time during which they have to climb to the driving seat from the passenger door, get under the car and pull the bonnet release cable by hand to refill the screenwash, or pull over and get the sat nav out to use as a speedo. They're built like crap, hence the tag fix or repair daily they get coined as.

I've had a couple of Ford Focus' of Ford Foci as the plural surely is?

Anyway Bob, had 'em both for over a year and not a single thing went wrong with either.

I've owned a 3 series and a 5 series and they were never out of the garage.

Got to say I do like an Audi though.

From what I understand the focus is one of the rare well designed fords, no corners cut. In stark contrast to my mrs' sisters fiesta, which it seems I'm having to sort something out on almost every week. Like I said never anything major, but just so many little things where they needlessly cut corners.

Beemers are supposed to be solid but everyone I know who's owned one has had problems with it. I must say though that, excluding seat, VW group cars live up to their reputation in my rather big experience of them.

General Motors/Vauxhall are by far the worst though, and I'm led to believe share a lot of non mechanical parts with ford such as door locks and what not. The end of Saab tells you all you need to know about GM. I'd never buy a vauxhall.

I've got a Seat Leon. Best car I've ever had. I've had Fords, Vauxhalls previously, bought this cos of the VW group link, and it was a good decision. I'd never ever touch a Vauxhall again though.

The main parts of the car, engine, gearbox etc are all VW, but Seat design the rest, like the shell and interior etc. Seat interiors do apparently break quite easily, I actually only know 2 people to have owned Seats, and whilst thats as far as my own experience with seats goes, the rule proved true to them both.

Just pesky things like I mentioned with fords, like the handles to recline the front seats in 3 doors pulling off effortlessly or bits of plastic trim of dashboard falling off with the slightest of knocks. Nothing more than an inconvenience but enough to do your head in.

I was told by someone who knows their shizzle about vw's that apparently the reason is because Seat spend a good proportion of their budget on making things look really fancy, taking a bit of a hit on the quality for it. I don't know how true that is but it makes sense.

Interior? Like what for example? Just the bits you mention for Fords? Mine all seem ok so far, after 4 years daily use. Genuinely curious, never heard that and wanna keep an eye out!

I love the rear doors, most people go for the handles in the normal place which always makes me giggle.

As a matter of interest how does a thread about Robbie Williams appearing on Strictly evolve into a Top Gear Special about Seat rear door handles.

Bob, you own a golf. Not a bad car but every one suffers from electrical problems to the rear lights. Everyone I've known who owned a golf was forever sending it back due to mechanical issues. German efficiency my arse

Oh car lights. Allow me a small rant.

I commute 45 miles one way each day, and as its dark in the morning and dark at night at the moment, I see a lot of car lights. Well not always, there's always some daft twat driving on side lights or without any on at all, but thats a different rant.

If I suddenly can't see a thing cos the twat behind me is blinding me like he's lighting up a football stadium with his normal beam, guaranteed it is either a Merc, Beamer or Audi, normally Audi. WIth their intense blue ****ing lasers designed to blind mere mortals.

I hate these arsewipes more than the ****ers in their 4x4 shiny white handbags with matching white alloys, who wouldn't even go up a kerb and park on grass let alone do any off road, and feel so safe they think they can push anyone in their way off the road. Not me sunshine, you wanna rear end me, go ahead. ****ers.

Then last week, I'm sat behind a new Jag. Now despite the front lights of the German cars, I do often admire their rear light clusters. Some are quite fancy. This jag has 3 rows of what looked like LEDs on each side, which actually looked quite tasteful and understated. I thought to myself this is English, no mistake. Then the ****er braked. I thought I was being fried alive. When I got in, my missus asked me why I'd been on a sun bed cos I looked glowing. Why do they do this?

Thank you, I feel better for sharing that.

Oooh, lights...what is it with dim ****s that see a bit of low cloud so think they have to turn on the high intensity rear lights, because once they got called 'fog' lamps?
