We really don't know how Nigel was treated in reality. We've merely been painted a picture by the media that directs us toward that conclusion. I have my doubts to be honest.
We know he was sacked, after gaining back to back promotions and following an improvement in form in the Premiership.
Yup. And we have no idea whether or not he was fully aware of what was happening - in fact indications would suggest he was. He was also paid an extremely handsome salary, considerably enhanced his reputation, was paid off, plus came up smelling of roses. Chairman thought there was a better option, he was right. It's few jobs in the world you get all that.
He is brutally honest and a bit of a prick, but he's so talented. I admire his work, not the person, but at least he speaks his mind and doesn't hide his thoughts.
Indeed. In other words we know enough to form our own opinions about whether he was treated badly. For what it's worth I think his sacking left a bad taste in the mouth. But there are of course thousands, no millions, of victims of injustice in the workplace who are more deserving of sympathy than Nigel Adkins, for the reasons you state.
But by that token, could you not say the same of Suarez? Not sure not being able to control or adapt your more adverse thoughts is necessarily to be admired.

That's true, but I bet most celebrities are unpleasant and arrogant to an extent. If Morrissey worded what he says better (ironic as he's a great lyracist!), he'd come across better. His views aren't as bad as the things Gary Glitter did!
You might be surprised - the majority I've ever come across have been pretty normal. Morrissey is a thoroughly unpleasant racist. Talented though he is.
To be honest it has become an uphill task but as it is the season of goodwill I thought I would let it pass (just this once mind).
The thing with Nigel - a better option came along for us, so we took it, rather than siding with a misguided sense of loyalty. It's the equivalent of Liverpool or Spurs offering Nigel a job at the time. It's a perceivably better option - I VERY much doubt he's have said no out of loyalty to us. But then we've done this point to death now!
Gee........... how on earth did we get back onto this subject? I think a lot of people were surprised by his dismissal and most certainly angered. Was it justified....who knows.......with hindsight and a crystal ball...it still would not be clear. For Saints it would appear in the short to medium term it was a good decision. NA was well compensated I understand,. having had his contract paid up so from that side of things he was not badly treated. Purely from a ethical point of view one could argue it seemed unjust.......but as I have said on numerous occasions, business is business.
Glad my thread has aroused some excellent debate. Not sure how it has been interpreted as having a pop at Cortese though. Didn't want this to turn into the whole Adkins debate, more a question of how important are results to football fans, because I four one would rather support a struggling team then a team who have no morals such as Chelsea.
