Just reproduced as printed... 1pm: Portsmouth fans gather in Bristol Flyer on Gloucester Road. 1.30pm: Mounted officers in riot gear close to junction of Gloucester Road and Egerton Road. 1.35pm: Around 1,400 Portsmouth fans expected for the League Two clash which is all ticket. 1.39pm: More mounted police officers seen on junction of Nevil Road and Gloucester Road. 1.40pm: Lots of police vehicles, some unmarked, going up and down Gloucester Road between the Memorial Ground and the Arches by the Cat and Wheel pub. 1.45: Many pubs have decided to employ afternoon door staff such as Rising Sun and Royal Oak 1.46pm: Fans' favourite pubs including Venus Bar and Queen Victoria are packed. 1.55pm: Door staff at Anchor pub as well as revellers watch Luis Suarez destroy Cardiff City - HT: 3-0 2.02pm: Mounted police escort a group of around 50 Portsmouth fans up Gloucester Road to the ground. Lots of Rovers fans outside pubs watching. 2.11pm: Police block the road outside Venus Bar to prevent Portsmouth fans and Rovers' fans clashing. 2.15pm: Fight breaks out by Lloyds Bank next to Anchor Pub and police rush in. Saturday shoppers look on bemused and huge police prescence quickly stops the situation esculating. 2.20pm: Police block road where fight happened and film fans who were involved. Shoppers and pedestrians are unable to pass. 2.23pm: Any views or photos to [email protected] 2.25pm: Police march portsmouth fans via Nevil Road to avoid passing other pubs on way to ground. 2.30pm: Rovers fans outside Tinto Lounge in the Christmas spirit and singing songs about former player Rickie Lambert who of course plays for Portsmouth's arch rivals Southampton. 2.31pm: Police operation seems to be working well with sheer weight of numbers keeping fans from wishing each other a Merry Christmas. 2.34pm: Shopper comment: "It's amazing how many of these troublemakers don't look old enough to have sat their GCSEs." 2.36pm: Numbers heading towards the ground starting to swell. Heavy police prescence outside Queen Victoria pub still. 2.38pm: Sad news - Legendary sports broadcaster David Coleman OBE dies at the age of 87 2.40pm: Liverpool won 3-1 by the way......and go top of the Premier League for a few hours at least 2.52pm: Big police prescence at stadium keeping Portsmouth fans away from home support in car park behind Dribuild Stand. However the mood is jolly with plenty of blue Santa hats on show. 3pm: Teams come out to a huge roar as fans look forward to the League Two basement tustle. Hi Ho Silver Lining coming over the tannoy. Time for battle to commence. 3.42pm: Well it must be Christmas, both Rovers and City winning 1-0 3.43pm: Lots of Portsmouth fans in the Wellington after failing to get into the all-ticket match. They seem happy enough having a pint and singing Fairytale of New York 4.03pm: Police still patrolling Gloucester Road monitoring isolated groups of fans who can't get into any of the pubs. Christmas jumpers aplenty. 4.38pm: oh, 2-0 Rovers - Marvellous 4.53pm: Well Done Rovers! Police on horseback and officers with dogs moving two groups of Rovers' fans south on Gloucester Road, presumably to clear the streets for the fans coming out of the stadium. 5.10pm: Four police riot vans and two mounted officers outside Tinto Lounge. Police seem to be keeping a group of fans inside but not sure whether they are Rovers or Portsmouth..... 5.17pm: Those fans loaded into police wagons and taken down Gloucester Road. They don't appear to have been arrested, just being moved on. 5.25pm: It's all gone very quiet so a great result all round. Football's the winner. 5.33pm: Right, that's all folks. I hate Portsmouth They should have been expelled from the league many times over their financial double dealing so perhaps they'll be good enough to do the decent thing and get themselves relegated off their own back this season.
