I really hope Mourinho & Abramovich sort this striker problem asap! ( for the long term as well ) I think it's pretty obvious what should be done. January: Sign a quality striker.... Jackson Martinez or Cavani or Falcao. Loan out / sell.... Demba Ba! Summer: Bring back Lukaku..... Make him apart of the first team, he may be on the bench occasionally but bring him into the fold! He will score! Sell..... both Torres & Ba. You can sell Torres for 15/20m and Ba for 10m to good teams! Keep Eto'o for an extra year, he loves Mourinho and will provide good experience and back up. Now, this may seem a little Football Manager esque but when you really think about it, this could easily be done. All you have to do is sign 1 player and sell 2. So, strikers, start of season 14/15: Lukaku. Jackson Martinez. ( Or another quality signing CF ) Eto'o. If we don't sort this out, we won't win trophies! Tbh, Centre Midfield is also a problem, someone like Gundogan/X.Alonso/Modric/Cabaye would be great in the summer!
There was an article in the Times yesterday about all the players we've got out on loan! You could select a Chelsea 2nd XI from them that I reckon could finish in the top 4! Seven of them were with our "feeder" club Vitesse Arnhen who are top of the Dutch league!
I wouldn't say regret, 50m was a bit silly but the money isn't really the problem, let's be honest. I think Torres and chelsea supports have a lot of respect for each other and the support for Torres has been great through some tough times. He had a great season last year scoring 20 goals and that goal in nou camp was legendary! I think his goal in apps so far this season has been pretty decent as well but he's not the type of striker who will win us the league, neither is Ba or Eto'o. We need Lukaku back and to sign quality CF!
Humm. Strange one Torres. At us he was definitely the type of striker to win you the league. Still doesn't look happy to me.
Don't think he can cope with the pressure of playing at a club like Chelsea. He is better suited to clubs with less expectation like Athletico or Liverpool
Agree. He had one great season at Liverpool. To be fair, he did make the club enough money to rebuild the squad around Andy Carroll and Stuart downing
A second 11 top 4 might finish in front of our lot !! Wish to hell some of them were in our 1st team now.
Have to admit Torres was a great bit of business by Liverpool - flogging a striker who was coming out of long term injury for 50M was genius. Can't remember the last time we had such a slipshod frontline, as Dave Bassett eloquently put it: "they couldn't hit a Cow's arse with a banjo"
Lets just hope the 1st Chelsea 11 can finish in the top 4. The way the scousers are playing at the moment, that's no guarantee.
