I was just browsing through various City sites and I found this, I don't know who, what or where this stadium design comes from and I can't find any more spec to go with it, or do you still prefer the new Ashton Gate, what do you think of the different design..? please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
Its really a version of Anfield e.g. Kop, external cantilever, corner definition .. Little imagination used. The footprint at Ashton Gate is not large enough - it would not get outline planning permission, that level of building is not being financed and ... Its fantasy rather than realism. A defined home end [Kop like] would improve the dull bowl Gate re-development design, although fans have yet to see the final design.
Don't like the top one. Looks old fashioned. The new AG looks really nice. Can't wait for it to start!
Don't we need to get a team first? It's rather like getting a Football Center of Excellence (or whatever it's called) when most of our league players are not from here.
I like the Anfield one - it has charisma, unlike some of the passionless donuts doing the rounds A Centre for Excellence is welcome any time - provided it is excellent. Think we have to assume that at some point we will have a manager who gets professional backing from the board and knows what to do with it, ergo we start to rise back up the leagues in time for our peachy new stadium opening (2017 is my guess....but your kids are gonna love it)
Nice one brightred but do you really think it has any hope of becoming excellent or will it go the usual way of anything English and disappear from sight after millions have been invested? Another thing that has similarities to Bristol City lol.
what ever the design will end up being not 100% will be happy. So I say to them just redevelop AG. Build a team if it's successful in years to come then worry about getting a new stadium. At the moment we have 10-12k fans probably the best time to redevelop when it's easier to house them whilst building work goes on.
At my age, I may not be around too long with any new stadium or rebuild. But what I do want for my remaining time as a Bristol City supporter is a stadium where I keep dry during the match, have a good and uninterrupted view of the playing area, plenty of accessible refreshment and toilet facilities. I also would like the stadium to incorporate facilities that can be of benefit to the wider community at all times. As for the design? Whatever is built, wherever it is sited will not please everyone. So if you don't like some part of the structure and location, just get used to it because we cannot all have our own personal stadium!
I like it BUT tis pointless creating summat fans could never have. That Bristol sport chap whathisname and Guy "the Brand" Price decided height of stands, two or one tier, make it like a bowel, crap acoustics leaving fans guffing over nothing of importance. Funny thing is Guy has now done one.
In the case of the Atyeo replacing the Eastend it has never happened. A section of support rejected that stand. The design should have reflected a desire identified by quantitative [factual] surveys conducted by the Supporters trust regarding design.
The Eastend was hardly a alternative for a long period because Mr Lansdown was bullishly unequivocal in his opposition to allowing City fans in that stand. The Atyeo does highlight how design can affect a fan base. A section of fans will not use that stand due to its poor dynamics. The atmosphere of the stadium suffered due to the building of the Atyeo.
Can I ask you a question? Even though in my time I've been in the Eastend, but do you actually see other fans in different parts of the stadium worthy to be true fans? It's just I get the impression that we are not real fans
I could not define what a true fan is. A FC is made of differing communities of support. Those communities have differing cultures, and expectations of what a day at football is. One size does not fit all, or its pocket. What generic and rationalized design does is fail to reflect that.
