    Happy Birthday Ron.

Bushman, I seem to remember Ron being affectionately referred to as OG Hunt due to his proclivity for scoring own goals - are there any stats on this?

Not so many then - nothing on Richard Dunne.

Amazing that you could find that btw - thanks.

    Who

Ron Hunt that's who, maybe not the best centre half in the world but 100% team player.

One of our greats of all time.

Swords, old boy, this may come as a shock to you, but the world existed before you were born!

Has anyone ever told you that we won the League Cup in 1967? :D

Dens/Roller, funny you should say that because I rang my old man earlier to see did he remember him and despite not missing a home game in 13 years at the time, the name didn't ring a bell <doh>. But he went on to say he remembered a center half who was short but used to get stuck in every game and give it loads. He remembered him playing against a big Wolves center forward who was from Northern Ireland (McDougan or summat?) and he kept out jumping him to the ball, and every time he did it the whole stadium roared in delight - even the Wolves fans! He wondered if this might be Ron Hunt?

    Does that sound like him?

Shame when you think that both Ron and Frank Sibley had to retire at early ages.

Swords just to familiarise yourself with a bit of history watch the you tube clip on Bushmans Ron Hunt Thread and you will see who he is, he is the one that clatters into the west brom goalie so that the ball falls to Mark Lazaurus to score the winner.....

I'd reckon that was him, his lack of stature is mentioned several times in Bushman's thread.

Presumably McDougan is actually Derek Dougan.

    McDougan!...<laugh>

I remember him on the ITV World Cup panel in 1970 - Along with Malcolm Allison, Pat Crerand and Bob McNab, a great bunch...

That confirms what I was thinking all along. Either my old man was on the drink the whole time during the 60's or he's going a wee bit senile :emoticon-0102-bigsm

You must know Richard Dunne. Centre half in the 2013/4 season. Used to play at Chelsea quite often for clubs like Villa and Citeh. You must have seen him. I am assuming you know the ledge that is Ron Hunt. Knows where the goals are but often confuses himself and puts it in the wrong one.

Slightly off topic, but I saw a few clips from that panel years ago. This was when the BBC were still very respectful and Jimmy Hill had the revolutionary idea of a panel of experts. It had Big Mal giving Mullery both barrells and calling Romania a country of peasants if I recall correctly. I couldn't believe the candour shown - would love to see it nowadays.
