This is why I love this site.

Slightly off piste, but mention of duct tape (I miss the old black tape from the RAF, or bodge tape as we called it, that bastard could hold a plane together) got me thinking. What's your favorite DIY thing like duct tape?

    Mine's "No More Nails".

Not only is it holding my 50" TV on the wall (with some screws and brackets of course) but I always dab a bit on picture hooks, shelves, basically anything that needs to go on a wall. Not only is that bastard never gonna fall off and make me look like a twat, but there is no way I can move it so when the missus decides she wants that mirror moving, she can sod off. "You SURE you want this here love cos it aint moving again afterwards?". Yeah.

I've got a laser sighted spirit level the flash bastard that I am.

But whenever I use it to hang pictures, put up shelves etc they are never level. Suspect the laser sights are out.

Makes a good lightsaber as well.

Get yourself one happy. Life will be complete

Ps before spelling police pull me up on americanisms, I know but can't be arsed changing them

The best thing I've got in my garage is a skutch, not sure if thats how its spelled but its just a great name. Saw two blokes i was wkg with have a fight once. One had a skutch one had a claw hammer, was ace. Skutch. word of the day.
    Not used it for years.

The handiest thing is my crow bar. Had it 25 years now. Can take nails out one end and wreck things with the other end. When we moved into the previous house it was a wreck. The mrs said just concentrate on the kitchen just emulsion the walls as she left for work.
Crow bar was calling to me. When she returned home 8 hours later. I'd taken all the doors off and all the door frames and most of the lathe and plaster off the walls. We lived without em for 3 years. I'm better at demolition than construction.

Duct tape was known as Harry Black in the Engineers.

Christ knows why, I get the black bit but I'm ****ed if I know where Harry comes from.

Best bit of kit a man can possess is Harry Black.

I've got an outdoor light where the glass outer casing is fixed in place by two fiddly little screws.
I had to change the bulb the other week and couldn't be arsed to tit about with these two ponceyfied screws so called for Harry Black.

    It's going nowhere, looks a right state and due to the amount of Harry I used 50% of the light is blocked out but like I said;

    Going nowhere.

You scare me and excite me at the same time.

Carmine, shame on you, it's so obvious.

Normally you pair "Harry" up with "The Bastard". That tape takes no prisoners. Harry Black is a good name for it.

:smiley-finger007:<rofl> if memory serves me correctly, it did! I can certainly remember being in-flight and one of your guys replacing pop-rivets; bloody great planes the Hercules! <ok>

Aye, I had a good chuckle as well. <laugh>
