Anyone know anything about fitting cartridges back into mixer showers? I took mine out to descale and clean it and now when it's back in the temperature control is fine but the on off part of the arrangement moves but doesn't do anything.... The shower is on all the time! Manufacturer says something about the cartridge controls temperature and also water flow - it has to go in a certain way but there is no way to tell what it is - I just can't figure it out. Long shot but any ideas?
Wait until Payton's Mullet comes along, he'll be able to sort it. Thinks he's Handy Andy with his electrical/ DIY know how.
Why will my mixer shower tower not turn off? This is due to failure of the flow control valve cartridge. Top Why will my shower tower not turn off the flow of water fully? This is due to failure of the flow control cartridge. You will need to fit a replacement cartridge to overcome this problem. Technically you've meddled and nacked it. Either tek it out and put it in t'other way or buy a new one. Or wait for Payton
Either that or twat it with a lump hammer. The Mullet will have that fixed in 30 seconds, I dare say he'll be disgusted at how you've made such a dogs dinner of it though.
Good help so far, manufacturer says you can't get those cartridges any more and they have none anymore. If I can't get one to try then I may be in for a new mixer tap which would not be good! It's a Mayfair sfl 099. http://www.mayfairtapsandshowers.com/index.php/products/showers/contemporary-lever/contemporary-lever-exposed-shower-and-kit.html
Mayfair?? Mayfair?? Dear me. How old is this shower?? Get yourself a Mira or Grohe, Easy for parts. Mayfair!! i'm losing sympathy with you GTT. You went cheap and welll......
3.5 years old, fitted as part of a bathroom refit and upgrade and not by me clearly as it has worked fine up until I tried to maintain it! Not happy now the prognosis for me mending it is not looking good...... Help me Payton's mullet, you're my only hope......
Cartridges? Does it give you a golden bronze whilst showering?? Can you choose different colours?? I know we can't all afford 5 stints in the Algarve a year like Chazz but that seems a little extreme.
Now I must confess that plumbing is not my forte. If you want an outside light fitting or a shed building I'm your man. But ill never shirk a challenge, so here goes. Have you put it back upside down? Put duct tape over the holes where the water is coming out is another option that I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned.. Are you insured for accidental damage? If so I'll send the kids round. They'll break anything. Hope that helps
There's that silly **** sealant stuff as well for stopping leaks. Endless remedies for you by looks of it
Take it to pieces again and take photos of each stage and compare it to the makers instruction manual. If you have not got a manual you can probably download one off the makers website. I changed my cartridge but took photos of it each time I removed something. What is the make and model No?
Real men just throw.instructions in the bin without reading em. I bet Wycombe asks for directions when driving an all
I knew The Mullet would offer some practical advice which would solve the problem. Duct tape. Solves every DIY dilema. Like shelling peas to that lad, like shelling peas.
I'm guessing he got some water in it while cleaning it. It buggers my mobile up a treat if it gets water in it.
