Suarez v Aguero: Which striker is better? The Liverpool and Manchester City forwards have both been on fire in front of goal this season They are both Premier League strikers of the highest calibre who have each started the season in sparkling form – and both have attracted the attention of Real Madrid. SEE ALSO: Who's the better 'keeper - Szczesny or De Gea? But who out of Luis Suarez and Sergio Aguero is the better striker? First, the statistics: ManchesterCity’s Aguero has hit 13 goals in 14 appearances so far this season, a strike rate of 0.92 goals per game. Suarez, meanwhile, has scored eight in seven, equating to a strike-rate of 1.14 goals per game. So in terms of finishing, the Liverpool man has been marginally the more lethal striker. That is backed up by the fact that, according to Premier League statistics, Aguero has missed seven key chances, while Suarez has spurned only two, a vast improvement in his finishing. Aguero, however, betters Suarez in terms of shot conversion rate – 29.63 – and shooting accuracy – 66.67, placing him third behind Romelu Lukaku and Loic Remy. And football is, of course, about more than goals, and strikers are increasingly required to do more than just put the ball in the net. Interestingly, the statistics also show that Aguero has contributed six assists so far this season, while Suarez has made just one. That is perhaps indicative of two things: that Aguero us a fine ‘all-round’ player, equally capable of setting up goals as well as scoring them, and also that Suarez has changed his game since last season. Where once he was the man laying on the goals, he is now the man scoring them. So those are the stats, with Suarez’s superior strike-rate proving that, in terms of goals per game, the Uruguayan international has been superior to his Argentine counterpart. There are, of course, other strands to the argument: while Suarez picked up a whopping 11 bookings last season and famously earned a 10-match ban for biting Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic, at the end of campaign, Aguero picked up only two yellow cards in the whole season. Talent is one thing, but staying on the pitch to produce it is another, and in terms of temperament Aguero edges out the Liverpool man. It was Aguero’s temperament for the big-match occasion which allowed him to keep his cool and score the most famous goal in Premier League history in 2012. Aguero could justifiably lay claim to being, at present, a stronger all-round player, but for the time being Suarez is the more lethal in front of goal. Which player do you believe is the better footballer, Suarez or Aguero? http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2013/11/18/suarez-v-aguero-which-striker-is-better/
Suarez, his finishing has definitely got better since KK's reign I obv see alot more of Suarez than Aguero though
They both are integral to each team, I don't see why people try to say who's the best for such and such, its just a subjective thing... They are both top top quality... Though playing in red always makes you look better...
Their goal scoring records in this country are virtually identical - Suarez 108 games - 68 goals, Aguero 108 games - 66 goals Aguero is the better finisher imo, but Suarez is capable of creating his own opportunities & is therefore the better all round player. As a pair they'd be frightening!
if Aguero was the better finisher, he would have more goals surely? Luis has to make most of his chances himself, Aguero is surrounded by a lot of quality, so in effect should be doing better.
Those stats are similar but they don't tell the true story. Aguero plays in a better team with better players and therefore possibly gets more / better chances. Luis creates lot of his own. You're better off looking chances converted. Simple question; if you switch them around, would Aguero gets as many in the Liverpool side and would Luis do as well at Man City? For me, one is a undoubted yes and Aguero is a question mark! I agree with Tobes that Aguero is the better finisher but Suarez is the better player IMO
I'm just glad we have one of them.. When you take in to account how far we've fallen as a club the last few years, to have one of the best players in world football is remarkable.
I have not read any other comments and just reply to the OP here so i can now read what others think once i put this out there. 1. These are entirely different players. 2. They would be a great partnership as aguero has the pace and suarez has the tricks 3. Right now the player of the year award SHOULD be between them and suarez should take top goal scorer and probably if there was not bias actively seeking any alternative no matter how spurious (some want to pick bale again this year ) I think both are people the prem is lucky to have in a total absence of class.
Just needed a 'quite' in front of that 'remarkable' and that could have been a David Coleman quote (for our older listeners....) GKRK
