Reebs - Just a thought but using your football example how about a league where by everyone plays each other once or twice, home and away meaning home gets to choose first, 3 pts for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for losing and 3pts for a walkover (no show). This would actually get proper movement in the table, just a thought!
That sounds good to me Blue. One potential problem is that there would have to be a fixed number in the league so may not cope with new entrants. However, a way round that may be to have 2 leagues (providing an opportunity for promotion and relegation battles) with extra "teams" being allowed for existing members to make up the numbers. If a new member wanted to join they could replace the lowest placed second team (say).
Thanks for your input chaps. The problem with a conventional league is that there is no incentive for a new player to come in after the first few weeks because founding member players will have accumulated too many points. And as Ron says, you are too dependent on having a fixed number of players. I'm going to continue as before but with the tweak as suggested earlier of every match having a result. Hopefully we will then start to see some more movement. And Ron moving up the table. Odds against this are available on Betfair Just joking Ron - my own selections have been as bad as yours - I just got lucky in pre-season!
