Calm down! It matters not one jot what we on this forum may have/ could have wanted to happen. The ONLY people who mattered in this saga were not even in the country. FSG made the decision and neither 40 0r 48 million would cut it as far as they are concerned. As for a lot of the fans at the time we wanted a higher figure if he was sold to an English club but would have accepted a lower figure from Madrid. But now they have spent stupid money on a lesser player like Bale so our asking fee has risen accordingly. As Gerrez said "he's still a **** but he's our ****!"
Before this season, I would have agreed. After the first 11 games of this season, I think his value has now shot up.
fair comments saint it is all assumption you are right, but i had a feeling at the time we probably would have accepted eventually £45-£50 mill from Arsenal, but Wenger pissed our owners off with the £1 bid, and after that it was a **** off at all costs as they was trying a fast one with a supposed loophole in the contract. i reckon they wanted rid at the time because of his antics that didnt do our public image any good, just not as cheap as Arsenal was trying to get for him, thankfully they ****ed up, but i reckon he would have been a goner.
Yes. Took it off when I changed the pictures but still stand by it. Not signing Eriksen will be a big mistake. If Spurs played Lamela and Eriksen in every game they'd be doing much better. Lloris, Vertonghen, Dawson, Eriksen, Paulinho and Soldado is a very good spine
Who mentioned Bale? I just posted the fees of world level strikers who'd moved in the last window & I'd put Suarez in the same bracket. Madrid thought they were buying the new Ronaldo & were raped by Levy, as he wanted Ronaldo money for him.
In the same why that Lucas, Kuyt and Henderson was for others; appears to be poor but will come good.
Yeah but what's your reasoning behind it being a 'big' mistake? Surely it's just another missed opportunity?
Wasn't on the wind up tobes I was just asking, Real upped the market price for the likes of Suarez through their desperation and can now expect us and others to view their players worth based on Bale's inflated fee. That's the way it is.
Ah, get you. You're right, its more of a missed opportunity but if he turns out to be good it could be considered a mistake. Much like not signing C.Ronaldo when we had chance; still a missed opportunity but a player of that quality (as we're seeing now with Luis) is able to drag a team up the league and is therefore a mistake on our part in not taking said opportunity
No tension I was saying for a long time that we should sign Eriksen so was a little gutted when he went to the spuds. I think, given the opportunity, he could be like Torres was for us. Obviously, I don't mean the scoring exploits but his ability and impact could be massive, he was stagnating in a lesser league and needed the move to a better league for his talents to blossom. ATM, Spurs are wasting him.
I've said it before and I'll say it again.... if Ramsey is worth 50m then Suarez is worth 400m he won't go in January he won't go for less than 80m he won't be sold to any premier league club. thank-you for your time
