We need to bring in a couple of players in January, and probably off load a few. Who of our present reserves could make it into the 25? Sam Topliss, Max Clark, Matty Dixon, Will Aimson, Ben Clappison, Calaum Jahraldo-Martin, Danny Chambers, Conor Henderson, Matthew Fletcher, James Armstrong, Jack Barlow, Joe Cracknell, Sam OâConnor, Dougie Wilson.
I don't really think that's his point, I think he may have worded it badly. I think he is asking which players can make the step up and be "apart" of our first team squad.
I disagree, we have a few internationals in there. That means they are perceived to be the best at that position in their country.
Anyone born before 1st January 1993 will really struggle. We currently have a full 25, with Brady to be added for next season. There'll be ins and outs but they're likely to be evenish in number. Anyone born 1/1/93 or later on the other hand has more chance, by not needing to be named they can break in over the course of the season. Clark I can see going on loan to somewhere like Scunny next season (is Dawson planning on playing on beyond this season?)
So tell us who they are, who they will challenge and why they are PL quality and deserving of inclusion before current or scouted players?
No. that's why I asked. Recent debate has brought up talk of a need for a midfielder if Livermore is recalled. We have Conor Henderson for one who we brought in, wondered if he could for one could step up.
I think our youngsters need to start going out on loan before we can consider them for breaking into the first team. When they start hitting 18\19 they should be ready for a season in League 1/2 otherwise, or they really ever going to make it?
People will say to sell them anyway, Cairney and Townsend tearing it up on loan and the first thing people mention is selling them/swapping them.
Our youngsters need to coached in stable squad setting, competing in a good quality development squad league, and In better facilities
Yeah up to the age of 17-18. When they reach that point they should be ready for competitive football. If they aren't, the chance of them ever making it at a decent level are slim.
Posh Chairman on the problem of loaning out youth players... Darragh MacAnthony ‏@DMAC102 I cannot believe there is not a queue of clubs in L2/conference premier to sign young Shaq on loan.Aver 2 goals a game nearly.Poor scouting! Darragh MacAnthony ‏@DMAC102 No word of a lie, our kid Shaq would rival golden boot contenders in the conference premier all day long.Look past his age scouts/managers!! Darragh MacAnthony ‏@DMAC102 We have 2/3 talented teenagers who need games & would impress at L2 level instantly but no scouts come to reserve games even when invited.
A good crop but they need to be playing at a higher level than the piss poor reserve league. Some to North Ferriby and some to league two clubs imo.
Do clubs not have any sort of affiliation arrangements with local teams? E.g. we could have an arrangement with York\Scunny\Grimsby etc whereby a couple of our upcoming stars have a season or two out on loan with them? Meaning they don't need to relocate and hopefully get competitive match experience.
