question... for how many games will the FA have to ban suarez to stop him getting top scorer this year?
It was a great result and definitely unexpected. Everybody is euphoric, but does it change our expectations of the city and in particular the chelsea match, obviously thinking we win our home match.
I think this is going to be sending out a message to all the big boys that we're not going to come to their patch to try and nick something, we're coming to try and play 'em off their own park, in front of their own fans. Even Citeh aren't smashing 5 away from home. Happy to see Hendo playing to the potential we paid for - £16mil wasn't exactly pocket change, so to see him running midfield, making late surges and getting on the score sheet, a great all-round performance. Need to see some more of these and hopefully he can keep Stevie on the bench for a few games beyond his return from injury. Should help preserve him for the run-in. Flanno played well too, massive outlay on the lad. Nice to see another youngster coming through from the academy proper (not just those nicked from other clubs like Suso or Sterling) and a local lad to boot. Had a few moments in the first half but grew as the game went on. Sakho also did very well and looked the beast we thought we might be getting. Still not sure how he missed getting on the scoresheet, but getting into those positions and getting his head to the ball - can't ask for much more... As for Luis Suarez, £22mil is a snip. He is the most complete forward in the PL at the moment. Scores, passes, creates, harries, tackles, constantly pressing from the front, always on the move and always wanting the ball. Real can offer £100mil and we can call that the starting bid...
I don't think there was ever any pressure against city or chelsea. What i'm wondering is now is the more hope that we may get a draw against city and chelsea, or we could push for a win. Is the hope unfounded, or even worse in the hope turnning into expectation.
Saw this earlier. Spuds were going ape **** on twitter because they feel they were taking the piss with their hand sign things, 3 + 2. 5 - 0 baby !!!
I can only talk for me but I said last week that I was looking for 6 points from the matches through to the New Year. We've got 3 and so if we can win our home match then any extra points we achieve will be a bonus. As far as I am concerned that takes a lot of pressure off us to achieve some form of result at Chelsea or City.
personally speaking we may get something from Chelsea, depends which team turns up, but City i don't think we stand a chance of getting anything from sadly (draw would be an amazing result there), hope i am wrong but don't see it. we have been in this type of situation many times in the past and expect points from Cardiff and lose to Chelsea and City type teams, well not much hope of getting a result anyway esp away from home, just hope we dont end up getting to complacent against Cardiff and get job done. my prediction so it doesn't happen lol, lose to Cardiff, and get a point at the bridge, and put City down to experience and move on. hoping for 4pts from next 3 games, but be fecking made up if we got 5pts or better.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says his side's 5-0 thrashing of Tottenham at White Hart Lane was the "most complete performance" of his tenure. Rodgers took charge in June 2012 and the Reds are now second in the Premier League, two points behind Arsenal. "It was a brilliant all-round performance," said Rodgers. "Obviously you dream and I didn't come here to be fourth, third or second. Eventually you want to win but you have to be realistic as well." Luis Suarez scored twice, while Jordan Henderson, Jon Flangan and Raheem Sterling completed the rout. Andre Villas-Boas's Tottenham side failed to register a single shot on target in Liverpool's third win in eight away matches in the Premier League this season. Rodgers said his players showed a "lovely arrogance" at White Hart Lane, adding: "That is probably the most complete performance [since taking charge]. "The players worked tirelessly. How we pressed the game was very good and tactically we were excellent. The level of our football was superb. Liverpool's Premier League record under Brendan Rodgers Played: 54 Won: 26 Drawn: 16 Lost: 12 "We got five goals and arguably we could have had seven or eight. That's the beauty of this team, we have got goals in it." Liverpool were without captain Steven Gerrard and striker Daniel Sturridge through injury, but the likes of Henderson, Sterling and Joe Allen impressed and Rodgers praised the way his side coped in their absence. "We spoke before the game about the fact we are missing outstanding players," said the Northern Irishman. "Winning teams support each other and work for each other. We've shown that it's the team that is the most important thing for us. "If we can stay clear of injuries and just continue to improve our football and what we are trying to do then let's see where it takes us."
I think we have to say that Rodgers win ration is improving nicely. the stat you quote is starting to look good. if after 100 games( call it 3 season) its a 60% win ratio it really will we got somewhere i think. I think however as long as we walk the walk as it were regarding the work that rodgers is on about we will be fine. The test is to continue delivering this next saturday and just plain wanting it more than cardiff.... there should be hunger all ove rthe pitch. allen should be very very eager to prove himself, sterling should be buzzing, suarez will want a hat trick again, henderson will just want to play, flanagan will be eager... sahko is just mad... so all in all I am hopeful that we won't see a flat performance this side of christmas
If I was the FA, I wouldn't piss him off anymore, esp. with Woy's England having to play Uruguay in the World Cup!
Our chances against City have improved slightly as Aguero is out for up to 6 weeks. I would still be happy with a draw
And Silva is one booking away from a ban too! We lose by less than 2 goals to them, i'll consider that a moral victory!
