I really cannot fathom how someone can come in and take the Premier League by storm only for it all to turn to rat poop. He does know where the net is but he doesn't know the basics. Constantly offside, got the first touch of a snooker table cushion & couldn't trap a bag of cement.

 

Really good question. My answer would be that during his early Newcastle career, he got some lucky breaks regarding offside flags. Scoring from this generally went in line with a confident player scoring from anywhere. Then, whether sub-consciously or through conscious action, referees and their assistants started flagging more often, and noticing his dimwittedness. At first he used to score and then be flagged offside. But his confidence is so low now, that he can't even score when he's a gazillion miles in-front of the defence.

Also, Premier League teams are probably the best in the world at tactically exposing weaknesses in the opposition number (even if we no longer seem to have the talent to make use of this trait on the European stage). Cisse has been figured out, it's so easy to trap him offside.

 

Hes awful, just awful. Brings nothing to the team atm. I want him to do well but he's slow, cant hold the ball and doesn't posses the ability to get past a man, which results in him being offside. We should never have got rid of Best!
